The photography tour with Lou is one priceless experience Ill never forget. I have learned a different perspective to the art of photography, and Lou has opened up that dimension with her patience, and passion for teaching. We often got distracted with finding that perfect shot in a given scene, and took for granted the little things around it that brings out life in your picture. Shoreditch has that perfect vibe and character to get you into the mood of inspirations. Lou has that eye for those angles that are often overlooked and she will teach you how to find them and create a story from your picture. Weve managed to turn very ordinary scenes into an amazing shot just by that little tweak on the settings of your camera. The pace of the tour is nice and slow, allowing time for short coffee breaks to review some of the pictures taken. Ive also learned a lot about the history of Shoreditch with Lou while walking through small alleys and backstreets. Truly an off the beaten track photography tour I have always enjoyed in every city I visited. Id highly recommend this tour, even non-professional Photographers with an ordinary camera should find this tour very enriching... kid you not.
Really glad to find this tour. Suitable for kids, as my 17-year-old daughter joined me with her SLR camera as well. We met at the designated location right on time and walked out to Trafalgar Square for an orientation and the crowds were light. We spent lots of time discussing camera settings, composition, exposure and angles of perspective throughout the tour. Our guide, Lou, was very experienced, informative and helpful. We walked over to Leicester Square, Picadilly Circus, past several monuments, down to St James Park, past uniformed guards on horseback, and over to Westminster Abbey. We did take a short break in a cafe and everything was well paced as we experienced the city through our lenses. The takeaway? We were able to get hundreds of shots statues, store windows, London cabs, parks, phone booths, architecture, street portraits, and classic skylines and bring home great memories during the 4-5 hour tour.
My wife Dee and I whole-heartedly recommend the guided photographic walking tour from Trafalgar Square to Covent Garden provided by Lou Smith. Her professional expertise, teaching style and personal traits are outstanding. My wife and I took advantage of her photographic knowledge and artistic insights while on a four hour tour with her this August 2017.
I had done black and white photography in the late 60s and early 70s including developing but had not spent any significant time in photography since then except for family and vacation slides. I missed the joy of getting that perfect shot and wanted to take up photography more seriously again. I recently had purchased a new digital camera with seemingly 100 menus. I read the manual but gained from it only a minimal knowledge of the cameras many features.
While planning a vacation to London, Dee came across an ad for Lous tour. I was excited with high expectations. We were not disappointed. Lou taught us so much: at the beginning of the tour, how to navigate the most important settings on our cameras, and then for more than three hours multiple ways to view the visual world. Finally, over a coffee she went over with us several of the photos we selected for her to review. She showed us different perspectives on the same object, real-time examples of the use of positive and negative space, and different ways to use and view color. She shared her thoughts about both landscapes as well as extreme close-ups. Her professional background both as a photographer and artist was obvious in all she said. When we take another trip to London, we definitely will try to book her tour again.

Great, Great, Teacher. Learned so much and understands a multitude of cameras.. Will be sure to do again...
enjoyed this very much, I had no experience in night photography and shot everything in auto. After three hours with Lou , I was able to take some great night photos on my own. Got some great photos in London and Paris, I highly recommend this tour.
Lou is a creative, opportunistic photographer. I really enjoyed the three hours we spent exploring Shoreditch, a very friendly and street art section of London. She pointed out areas that were ideal for capturing images unique to the area, that told the neighborhood story, but what I found most valuable was her expert knowledge of my Canon camera. She taught me how to use features I had previously ignored. I much appreciate her help and think any serious photographer could benefit from this tour.
This was a fantastic tour that exceeded my expectations. My guide,Lou Smith, was very knowledgeable and good at explaining the best way to take a shot and some unusual places to get better angles. The tour was individualized to what I wanted to get out of it. During our snack break we reviewed all my shots and she made comments on what was working well and other options I might consider. We compared my shots to some of hers and how the different compositions worked. I will definitely take another photo tour when I am next in London.
Excellent, Lou gave me extremely good advice on ways to improve my photography. I learned a great deal about more fully utilising the capabilities of my camera. I feel more confident in composition and better exposure and sharpness in my photos. Would recommend to beginners and more experienced photographers.
My granddaughter being artistic and into photography really enjoyed the time spent with our professional artist and photographer that spent a few hours taking us around. She was exceptionally brilliant at her craft and gave my granddaughter pointers on how to get the best pictures with the different settings and angles to use. Very helpful and enjoyable.
