Ride a camel into the Moroccan desert on an overnight trip from Mergouza, and sleep beneath Saharan stars. Set up a traditional nomadic camp in the sand and watch the sun slip away behind Erg Chebbi’s towering dunes. Dine fireside on regional specialties and take in the haunting sounds of Berber music; climb the dunes for a desert sunrise, then mount your camel for an hour’s ride out of the sand, and back to Mergouza.

A once in a life time experience!

We absolutely loved this trip. It was quite a far drive from Marrakech, but we stayed at a Riad halfway from the location meeting point so it broke up the trip a bit. Ahmed was a fabulous host ensuring we were in route and okay. He also hosted us with tea and biscuits upon arrival. He was a kind soul with a great crew working for him. Just imagine taking a camel ride into the amazing sunset with vast dunes in the distance. Once that was over we headed to camp where we were served an amazing dinner followed by live music. My absolute favorite is seeing the desert sky with the beautiful stars gazing back at us. At night, we slept in tents and then woke up to the sunrise. We left with the camels and headed back to our meeting place where we showered before leaving and hitting the road. Things to consider: 1. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the meeting point. Folks you’re headed to the desert so naturally it’s going to be a challenge, but well worth it. 2. Download Tantu Maps with Morocco so that you can access offline GPS capability for free and particularly since getting a signal might be tough at times. 3. Make sure you have gas stations take credit card-VERY IMPORTANT. 4. BE SAFE AND HAVE FUN!!!!!!

I didn't find it very difficult to find the place following the instructions in their website, we just gave a call to Ahmed once we were close so he could meet us up. Starting from te camel ride with our guide until reaching the camp, we decided not do do much of the sandboard to walk up the dunes and watch the sunset which was totally worth it. We were 1 group among 3 others to spend the night in the tents and we can only say it was a expeirence in a lifetime. The food served was super good, we did a fire after diner and were playing and singing with the guides. We learned a bit more about the berber culture, the desert and can only recommend the tour. In the morning waking up for the sunrise wasn-t that easy but I am glad we did it. I have to say I feel a bit bad for the camels, but we wanted to have the experience and it was outstanding! The place where you go shower afterward is of very good taste, I wish we had one more day to stay there. Thank you Ahmed and all the team!

Never buy this! There was no company that offer the tour. Just a place to meet and we had a heck of a time meeting the guy and missed the sunset the pinnacle of the tour. The tour operator was clueless and yelled at us for not knowing the roads very bad directions, indeed. Actually the same trek can be bought half the price from elsewhere and they all come to the same tents. We paid more thinking this would be better of course you are going to the Sahara. I wonder why Viator is listing this provider. Viator, send a rep to try this provider.

TOUR OPERATOR FEEDBACK: First of all thank you for your visit. Second, we are a small company who offers this tour. The place you were asked to meet is where we operate from and our exact address and GPS coordinates were provided to you on your voucher along with detailed directions when coming to our village by car. We have had many travelers from Viator and 98% can locate this address easily. If some visitors get turned around, then they typically ask the local inhabitants and are directed to the house. Given the nature of this tour, we are located in a desert not a city, and our company is operated out of the house where you had parked your car. This is where you were provided with a shower and 2 rooms for your comfort. I apologize if you felt at any time I was shouting at you. When we spoke over the phone, we had a poor connection and I raised my voice to ensure I was being heard, but this was not meant to be taken in an insulting fashion. When you advised me you could not locate the meeting location, I asked you to inquire at the cafe as I knew they could direct you easily without fighting to be heard over a poor connection. When you arrived, you wished to discuss this issue further, but I was anxious to get you out on tour so you would not miss the sunset. This was done to ensure your enjoyment of the tour and not meant to cut you off or seem as though I was not listening to you. Although we did make it to see the sunset, you instead stated you would never come back to Morocco again. Please be aware, there are variations in price depending on the method of booking, but all pricing is very comperable and no one pays "half-price" as indicated in your review. We have operated for 6 years performing this tour for countless tourists and this is regrettably my first unfavorable review. We hope you enjoyed the remainder of your tour but it is unfortunate that you did not mention anything about the trip into the desert itself and instead focused on this one negative aspect of your experience. We hope you will give Morocco another chance in the future.
It was a little difficult finding...

It was a little difficult finding our meeting point, but once I stopped and asked for directions we found it immediately. Ahmed was our contact at Chez les Habitants. Ahmed showed us a shady place to park our car. We changed our clothes and sat and had tea with Ahmed and he explained what was going to happen. We took approximately a one hour camel ride into the desert campsite just before sun down. The campsite was a group of about eight large tents. One for the workers, one for dining and the remaining 6 were 2 bedroom tents. Each side had a queen size box spring and mattress and one night light no other outlets. We watched the sun set, skied the sand dunes and watched the sunset. We had a full dinner, followed by music by the campfire. We woke up early for sunrise and breakfast. Then headed back to Chez Les Habitants. We showered and were off. Definitely recommend using Ahmed.

One word is enough. When you meet the guy, you know. He is "Ahmed". He will make your stay memorable.
