Barbara was a great guide! She made sure that we got the most out of our excursion! The Currywurst at the glacier restaurant was really delicious!

Elizabeth was an excellent guide. Unfortunately the weather was not good and we did not have good viewing. She directed the driver to return via a scenic route that was very nice. Her commentary was knowledgeable and interesting.
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Even if we do a lot, we can't change the weather can just be reached by our prayers. I'm glad she delivered an excellent day for you.
Way up high
Michael_D, Jul 2022
Well, this was, frankly, amazing. Made even more so by our tour guide Elizabeth, who was lovely and knowledgeable and charming. The journey is a couple of hours from Munich by coach, so quite a long day. Because of the very clement weather, it was also busy, but so worth the effort. The cable car trip up Zugspitze is incredible, six or seven minutes to go 2000 metres. German engineering at its finest. At the top you can eat, take in the breathtaking views, even go to Austria. You can see first hand the effects of climate change with the receding glacier, it makes for sober thought. You then take another cable car down to 2600 metres to the ski resort, and finally the cogwheel train through the mountain back to Eibsee. A fantastic day out.

Worth your time
SuKiang_L, Jul 2022
Elisabeth was brilliant and the driver was very good too. The bus is very new and the trip was excellent, except for the three fellow travelers who decides to take their own detour, causing unnecessarily delay on the return bus ride.
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Come back next month and enjoy even more our tour. We are happy to see you again

Elizabeth was our tour guide and she was very courteous for everyone of us. She took the time to walk through in the bus and ask if we have any questions.
Response from Host, Jul 2022
She has the sympathy from a bavarian woman. Our team is very devoted to our state. Discover more from Bavaria with us.
Great experience

Great trip with amazing views and weather. Great guide (Barbara), but don't miss out on the glacier tour as well (free of charge from the Zugspitzplatt).

Loved this tour, went again the second year in a row from Australia. Guide was fantastic and the bus was fresh and new each time. Views are amazing.
Fantastic views, excellent fun
Joel_N, Aug 2019
Booked through Viator on grey line tours from Munich to the Zugspitze with my family. The ride there was comfortable in a double-decker bus with large windows to see the scenery on the way, The cable car trip up the mountain was breathtaking, Up top, there was great views all around and fun to walk from Germany to Austria. My kids loved the part of time given in the lower section where they sled on the snow in August! There was plenty of time to take pictures and have fun. The cogwheel train return was interesting with nice views. Our tour guide Debbie was fun and interesting and gave us lots of information on the area.

It was a wonderful tour. The guide was very friendly and well explained. Well organised and punctual.
Boring Guide
Susan_T, Jul 2019
This trip would have warranted 5☆ despite the mixed weather conditions but for the guide. I have never heard a guide talk so much and say so little so watch out for Peter.... The trip itself was spectacular but even in July it was 5°c with a cold wind. However, once the cloud lifted the views were to die for! We had over 2.5 hours at the summit, which was plenty of time to grab a bite to eat & take as many photos as we wanted. The trip down on the cog wheel train took 1hr 20 but was a really interesting trip & the train itself was a true feat of engineering! If you have the time - don't miss this trip!
Cloudy

Nice day; worth the trip
Heather M, May 2019
We had a good experience and trip to Zugspitze. The weather was a bit overcast so we couldn't see as far as we'd hoped, but it was still lovely. Overall, I think the time spent at the top could be shortened by 45min-1 hour; but the day was lovely. Our guide Arnuld, was pleasant and helpful, but not super engaging. He was a bit cranky upon our arrival. My group and another couple had been told to arrive in the morning by 10:15 (the Viator paperwork indicated that), but Arnuld was upset and shared that we were "supposed to be there at 10am." I am not sure of the mitskae's origin, but he left before 10:15am, so if anyone else was still arriving, he left them there!

Brian M, Oct 2016
The Monastery tour was a little disappointing. More of an in-and-out thing. We didn't get to see the brewery since it was closed, and there was a service going in the church, so it was a bit weird trying to go in to see how it looked. Zugspitze is quite the experience. Would recommend, but just be aware that the weather at that altitude is highly variable. Don't expect to see four countries... GO expecting to see some breath-taking mountain scenery, and then be really happy if you get a clear day and can see everything.

Rand N, Sept 2016
This is a fun day trip with beautiful landscapes everywhere. We enjoyed the tour, but there were two downsides to the trip. First, Gray Line sold virtually every seat on our bus. Therefore, even though our tour guide was excellent, it was sometimes hard moving more than sixty people from place to place. Second, there really isn't much to see at Ettal Monastery--only the chapel. Perhaps a better place to visit, which is not much farther away, would have been Wieskirche--a Unesco World Heritage sight.

I would not recommend this tour be booked for a couple of reasons. 1. The visit to the monastery was almost non existant. I was expecting to tour the monastery but instead the bus pulled up and we had 20 minutes to look around . There was no access to the monastery and only allowed a quick peak into the church. 2. Our guide informed us that rarely was the weather at the top of the mountain agreeable -- he has only seen one clear day out of too many to have made this worth a day taken from precious limited vacation days.
