Why Travelers Choose This Tour
Transport, an alligator exhibit, and grab-and-go snacks make this an ideal swamp tour for families.
In the morning, meet your air‐conditioned coach in the French Quarter and settle in for the approximately 30‐minute ride to the town of Jean Lafitte, a historic fishing village named for a notorious 19th‐century pirate and privateer. Located deep in the wetlands at the edge of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park, this town offers an authentic look at Cajun culture and local enterprise, including logging, plantation agriculture and a rich – and often grisly – tradition of animal trapping.
Before heading out on the water, pop into the albino alligator exhibit and grab a delectable shrimp Poboy to go (own expense). Enjoy the proximity to the water surface and warm breeze as you zip through the bayou. Spot lurking alligators, snakes, raccoons and giant river rodents called nutria. Savor the moments of calm when the boat slows and your native captain shares stories and facts about the area’s history and the surrounding wildlife – and maybe even interacts with an animal or two!
Your bayou adventure ends with a return to the French Quarter by coach, arriving in mid‐afternoon.
I called to make a reservation for a small airboat excursion. I was told they were sold out of small boats, so I thanked them and hung up. The salesperson called me a few minutes later to say that he had found one. I asked no less than 5 times if he was sure this was a small boat and he assured me it was. When we got there, we were put on a large boat. I do not think it's good business to lie just to make a sale. The experience was good, but was not what we agreed on.
Good guide and spectactular narrative. My Daughter loved touching the baby Alligator. We liked the boat and its safety equiptment for our family protection. We would recommend this trip highlly to anyone. Ed Gleadall and Family Thanks to the guide Tick Tock!
The bus ride to this event was very pleasant, air conditioned and very comfortable. Check in to this event was very easy and we found several groups arriving at the same time. However, there are multiple boats and the staff are very organized. The boat ride was good, although not as fast as I was anticipating. We did see alot of alligators and the guide stopped to feed a few, giving us a close up view. Our trip was at the end of April and it was beginning to get hot, so be sure to take a hat, sun glasses and sun screen. Fun afternoon on the water!
This was one of the best tour we have taken. Darius, our bus driver, was so patient with us since we were running a few minutes behind. He was very informative on our way back to New Orleans recommending some of the good spits to eat and visit. Our airboat tour guide was Jay. He was so funny and made this experience truly memorable. I highly recommend this tour.
This was a well organized and informative, as well as fun tour. We enjoyed the airboat we were on and had a fun tour guide that made sure we saw plenty of wildlife. I would do this tour again, but maybe next time take one of the smaller boats with fewer people only because I liked the stadium seating on the smaller boats, so everyone could get a good view and plenty of good pictures. We had good seats on this boat but the people in the middle of the seats may not have had as good of a view as we did being on the outside. The boat was fun to ride on and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. I highly recommend this tour
