2-hour walking tour of the Garden District and Lafayette Cemetery No. 1
Stroll through the lush green streets of the Garden District
Learn about the historic 19th-century mansions on former plantation land
Meet your guide at the corner of St. Charles and Washington Avenue (get off at stop N27 if you ride the St. Charles streetcar to the Garden District).
Wander through this verdant residential area of New Orleans to admire the many beautiful 19th-century antebellum mansions – it's the largest collection of this style of buildings in the world. At one time, this part of the city was taken up by a few plantations. These were later broken up into the separate residential plots you see today.
The streets are lined with Live Oaks, sometimes branching across roads to create lush tunnels between fine examples of quintessentially New Orleanian architectural styles. Look for scrolled cast iron fences and grand white columns.
Before concluding the tour, visit one of the city's famous above-ground cemeteries, Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, which dates from the 19th century.

A very nice walking tour of the Garden District. Very history-driven and aesthetically pleasing neighborhood. The tour guide, Shawn Bird, was very good at keeping the group together and moving forward
Garden tour and Lafayette cemetary. The tour guide was great. He did a great job. He was very informative and spend as much time as you needed. He was great at answering questions and I learned quite a bit from him. I think his name was T.J. and he was very good at his job.
Shawn Bird was a very good tour guide. He had a lot of knowledge of the cemetery and garden district homes. Overall the tour is very good. On a side note - Shawn handled the tour very well when couple of participants were getting a little obnoxious and could have ruined the tour for everyone. He was very professional
