Experience New Orleans’ rebirth on a 3.5‐hour tour through eclectic urban neighborhoods and some of the most impacted sites of Hurricane Katrina. You’ll witness the city’s great contrasts as you visit the extravagant Esplanade Avenue, the devastated Ninth Ward, Faubourg‐Marigny, City Park and more. Enjoy a guided drive along the shores of Lake Ponchartrain, and catch great views of the Causeway from the newly restored New Canal Lighthouse Museum.
  • New Orleans combo tour including top city attractions, such as the New Canal Lighthouse Museum
  • Explore New Orleans neighborhoods including the French Quarter, the Ninth Ward, Lakeview and Carrollton
  • Stop briefly at City Park and visit either the Morning Call Cafe or the Besthoff Sculpture Garden
  • Enjoy a guided tour of the New Canal Lighthouse Museum
  • Take in views of the levees on Lake Pontchartrain and the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway
Your New Orleans city tour begins with morning pickup in the French Quarter. Climb aboard your air‐conditioned coach and take in some foundational history from your guide as you wind through the city. Heading east from the French Quarter, you’ll pass through the hip Faubourg Marigny neighborhood en route to the Ninth Ward,  one of the neighborhoods most heavily impacted by Katrina. Experience the vulnerability of this place – located at the site of massive Industrial Canal breach – and its burgeoning regeneration. Though this area is closed to tour groups, you’ll glimpse several important celebrity‐driven rebuilding projects and the restored home of local legend, Fats Domino.

Then head north along Esplanade Avenue to witness the juxtaposition of stately Creole mansions and cottages along the shady boulevard. Your route leads directly through St Louis Cemetery No 3 – where you’ll have time to wander through some macabre and magnificent tombs –  and on to City Park. Admire the more than 50 sculptures in the park’s Besthoff Sculpture Garden or stop at the Morning Call Cafe for a delicious beignet (own expense) before continuing north toward Lake Pontchartrain.

A massive estuary that covers 630 square miles, Lake Pontchartrain significantly contributed to the flooding of New Orleans in 2005. Like many building on its shoreline, the New Canal Lighthouse Museum fell victim to the flood, but has been restored and reopened in 2013. Take a guided tour of the museum and catch great views of the Pontchartrain Causeway and the some of the surrounding levees.

The final leg of your 3.5‐hour journey passes by several distinguished universities including Tulane, Loyola and Xavier University of Louisiana – the only historically black Roman Catholic institution of higher education in the US. Then marvel at the beautiful colonial homes along St Charles Avenue and through the Garden District on your way back to your departure point in the French Quarter.
