Why Travelers Choose This Tour
With an optional buffet lunch, this daytime cruise on an authentic steamboat is a hit with families.
Guarantee a spot on this popular cruise aboard one of the city’s last remaining steamboats by booking a ticket in advance. Choose a morning or afternoon start time and head to Toulouse Street in the French Quarter to board the beautiful Steamboat Natchez—one of the last boats of its kind in New Orleans. The historic vessel particularly appeals to boat enthusiasts and history buffs, who can linger over the vintage decor and museum-quality engine room.
Stroll the deck as the Natchez begins its cruise along the Mississippi River. Then, find a seat in the cabin or outside, where you can admire unobstructed views of the striking ‘Crescent City’ shoreline and enjoy live jazz music. Learn some riverside history as you pass sites like the Chalmette Battlefield, where the famous pirate and privateer Jean Lafitte teamed with Andrew Jackson to defeat British invaders in the Battle of New Orleans.
Purchase an optional buffet lunch to sample an array of sumptuous Louisiana fare from cornmeal-crusted fish and red beans and rice to Natchez’s signature bread pudding and fresh fruit. (Full menu included below). Coffee and tea are included with your lunch, or you may purchase adult beverages.
Your river cruise ends back at the departure point in New Orleans with plenty of time to sightsee!
Loved hearing the history the food was around a 3 or 4 but still good.
We enjoyed the band as well. The music was a 5+. The Dr Pepper was the creamiest we’ve had. Perfect. The staff was on top of it and helpful. Gina was wonderful and even shared some recipes with us. We loved being able to visit the steam room and the narrator was very good and sharing the history.

It was our first time visiting New Orleans and had to check out the Steamboat Natchez. The steamboat was beautiful, a very relaxing cruise that lasted a couple hours. The customer service was outstanding! Enjoyed our captain and his tour along the Mississippi River. Must try the Jazz Punch! So delicious, refreshing and good prices. Definitely a must when you're out visiting!
This is a true steamboat not like the others in this area that have converted to diesel motors. The staff were so wonderful and friendly and the captain did a great job telling us about all the history as we moved down the Mississippi. This was a great day and loved it. We did have the lunch and the meal was delicious (catfish especially).
