Meet up with your guide in Central Harlem in the early evening. Spend the first hour of the excursion getting to know the sites and streets most closely connected to dance crazes like the Lindy Hop and its founder, Frankie Manning. You’ll also learn about Harlem’s unique Swing Dance culture.
Once you’ve celebrated the Harlem’s historic dance crazes, try them out for yourself by joining area locals during a one-hour class led by a local Frankie Manning aficionado. You’ll learn the basic moves for swing dancing, along with the typical steps in the Lindy Hop.
Make sure to bring comfortable shoes: there’s lots of dancing and walking involved in this fun-filled excursion.
