Immerse yourself in the history and natural landscape of St. Maarten on a day trip to the island’s highest mountain, with convenient pick-up and drop-off from the Philipsburg port. The day starts with admission to an historic plantation museum that educates visitors about the island’s legacy of slavery. Afterwards, take in sweeping views of the island and ocean rarely seen by visitors from a chair lift ride.
Slight issue with getting taxi at port to Soualiga as taxi dispatch were not aware of us going there but were more than helpful finding a taxi. Sky explorer is really good and allowed many gos as not busy. Excellant lunch staff friendly and helpful. Fanastic views of St Maarten. Value for money.
There was confusion at the taxi stand. I had the printed voucher necessary to obtain the free taxi ride to Soualiga. However no one there we asked knew anything about the free transfer to the excursion. We were sent to another area away from the taxi stands. Someone there told us to go back to the taxi stand and ask for Cisco who was in charge of taxis. We went back to the taxi stand and asked for Cisco. He knew about the free transfer and found us a cab. We had the same issue returning to the port. We showed our voucher to the taxi driver. The taxi driver expected full payment for the taxi ride. We asked him to call Cisco. Cisco told the taxi driver not to charge us for the ride. That aside, it was refreshing for me and my friend to find something different, fun and very scenic to do in beautiful St Maarten. A bit nervous to ride for 20 minutes up in the lift, I became acclimated to the height. Once on top of the mountain, there is a wooden structure that allows for outstanding views of St. Maarten below. They were selling drinks and light snacks for anyone interested. They also offer zip lining and a water slide. We had lunch at the restaurant below. Included also is a museum which we did not go into. Employees were very friendly. A very nice half day excursion.
Sky Explorer was great! Everything has been rebuilt and I felt very safe. The trip from the pier needs some work, we were shuffled from 1 person to another at the taxi stand until someone agreed to take us. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.
