Departure Time

9:00 AM
After morning pickup from your Playa del Carmen hotel, travel with your guide to Tulum, a former Maya city perched on a cliff with the Pacific Ocean forming a dramatic backdrop. As you walk through the ruins on a guided tour, imagine the place when it was bustling with the Mayan people as you hear stories and speculations about this interesting city.

Then, enjoy free time to wander about the grounds on your own. Hint: There’s a hidden beach behind the Maya castle at the base of the ruins.

Following Tulum, stop at two cenotes, or natural sinkholes, and explore the impressive caves and ancient rock formations.

Next, continue to Yal Ku Lagoon for snorkeling and wade into an estuary, where freshwater from the underground rivers combines with saltwater from the sea to create an environment teeming with aquatic life. The shallow rock-reefs in the area provide an ideal location for snorkeling.

Your day tour concludes with drop-off back at your hotel.

Very enjoyable tour, great guide and driver. Tulum beautiful. Pleasantly surprised by the variety of fish at the lagoon. The cenote tour was a great surprise! I expected open sinkhole swim, but was actually a beautiful private cave. Delicious lunch at incredibly gorgeous remote beach restaurant.

This is a nice tour that combines many of the good things Yucatan has to offer, namely Maya ruins, Cenotes, snorkeling, and time at the beach. Tulum is an interesting place being the only remaining port city of the Mayas. visiting the site gives an opportunity to learn about this aspect of their life, so it is worth visiting even if you visited the more famous sites of Chichen Itza and Uxmal.
