Start your curling experience with a pickup from your Prague hotel and travel with a local guide to the venue for your game.
Along the way, learn more about this exciting Winter Olympics sport and how it originated in 16th-century Scotland, where games were first played on frozen lakes and ponds.
On arrival, glide out onto the ice and get a briefing on this enjoyable sport from a qualified instructor. Get a feel for the polished granite curling stones and curling brush — used to ‘sweep’ the path of the stones in order to speed and direct their journey — and learn about the ‘house,’ the main target painted onto the ice.
After getting to grips with the rules and tactics, split your group of family, friends or colleagues into teams and play a full-throttle game.
Enjoy the thrill as you propel your stones across the ice, and use the curling brushes to direct the stones of your teammates toward the target. While each stone weighs a heavy 44 pounds (20 kilograms), they can still be easily ‘thrown’ by children aged around or above the age of eight.
After your game, recharge with a hot drink (own expense) overlooking the ice. Chat about your game, watch other players on the rink and then finish your experience with a drop-off back at your hotel.
