We did the Isla Saona by Speedboat and Catamaran, booked through Viator. It was a VERY long day with a lot of time spent on taxi from resort to a gas station. We sat at the gas station for over 30 minutes waiting for the driver to come back. He said, one minute and left. He finally came back and told us to get out of the taxi and into a waiting bus. The bus finally took us on a 25-30 minute ride to a parking area of a beach. Please note, we were in the front seats and could see the driver texting someone the entire time! We all got off the bus and waited in our group for 20 or 25 minutes before finally being ushered to the speedboat. It was mandatory that the orange lifejackets be worn for the 45 minute ride to the shallow area where we got out and their photographers took our photos with 'wild' starfish. The trip included an unlimited open bar. They had dark rum, light rum, unbranded 'cola' and unbranded 'clear' soda. I can not have sugar and they did not have a diet or light soda option therefore, I could not drink anything unless I wanted to do straight shots of rum which I opted not to do. We waded around in waist-deep water for about 45 minutes then, got back on the speedboat and were taken to Isla Saona. It was a beautiful beach, but rather crowded. The food was only OK and we were told on the way there that it was an open bar again, no diet soda and that they had fresh lobster for a very reasonable price. I looked forward to the lobster upgrade, but then found out it was 35 per person. No thank you. At the end of our journey, we got on a catamaran and went back to our starting point. Back on the bus for another drive to a deserted building/parking lot to be transferred again to a taxi. We were exhausted from the long day. Not that it was long, but all the transfers, waiting around and bus rides. Total time from resort to resort was between 10 and 11 hours. I would not recommend this particular tour. Please note: this is the first time I've ever said that.
