Tour the Golden Circle and enjoy the popular Icelandic pursuit of bathing in hot springs on this 8-hour day trip from Reykjavik. View the Golden Circle’s famous trio of sights: Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area, and Gullfoss waterfall. Plus, soak in the warm waters of the Secret Lagoon, a scenic pool of natural hot springs. Lagoon admission and towel rental, air-conditioned transport, and hotel transfers in Reykjavik are included.
  • 8-hour Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon tour from Reykjavik
  • Enter Thingvellir National Park and walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates
  • See the Geysir geothermal area and Strokkur geyser, and stop at the Gullfoss waterfall
  • Soak in the geothermal hot springs of the scenic Secret Lagoon
  • Break for lunch (own expense)
  • Lagoon entrance fee and towel rental included
  • Air-conditioned minivan or coach transport, and hotel pickup and drop-off included
After pickup from your central Reykjavik accommodation, leave the city by air-conditioned minivan or coach, and admire Iceland’s countryside as you head toward the Golden Circle.

On route, listen as your guide sheds light on the country’s geology and history, and admire your first views of Thingvellir National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004.

Stop at the park's famous tectonic rift, where the continental plates of America and Eurasia face each other over a narrow valley. Walk between the plates, and hear how they are gradually drifting apart by an average of about 0.9 inches (2.5 centimeters) per year.

Next, continue past Laugarvatn to the Geysir geothermal area. Break for lunch (own expense) here, and follow the walkways around the hot springs, steam vents, and geysers.

Watch the giant Strokkur geyser erupt, spouting water up to 65.6 feet (20 meters) high, and then travel to the Gullfoss waterfall. Formed from meltwater from the Langjökull glacier, this double-tiered fall plunges into a canyon and is astonishingly beautiful.

After taking photos here, visit the nearby Secret Lagoon at Fludir. Fed by natural hot springs seeping up from the earth, this scenic geothermal pool is clouded in steam, giving it a fairy tale-like appearance.

On arrival, use the changing facilities to don your bathing suit. Then, wade into the waters — they stay at a warm 100-104° Fahrenheit (38-40 Celsius) — and enjoy a relaxing soak, admiring the lovely countryside views as you swim.

When it’s time, hop out, change into your dry clothes, and meet back up with your guide and vehicle. Then, relax as you ride across the heathland of the Hellisheiði lava plateau back to Reykjavik, where your tour finishes with drop-off at or near to your hotel.

Please note: guests will need to bring their own bathing suit to swim in the Secret Lagoon, although towel rental is included. You are also advised to dress warmly as Iceland’s weather can change suddenly.

Amazing tour!

Really great tour with a fantastic guide. Coach very comfy and warm. It was lovely to have the Secret Lagoon at the end of a day of touring!
Brilliant trip

This was a great trip, especially if you only have a few days to explore Iceland. Maria our guide was knowledgable, fun and had a real passion for this amazing country. The secret lagoon is a must at the end of the excursion. This is a must do trip
Highly recommended

Though the weather was gloomy (all day wind and rain), the trip was wonderful - seeing the beautiful landscapes and wonders and enjoying the lagoon with a cold beer and easy temperature regulation when standing up. Maybe the best part was the driver, Gudmundur Björni (Gummy Bear), who was warm and kind and funny and knows the area from living all his life there.
Take this Tour!

We had the best day with our tour guide “ GummiBear”. You really get a goof feel for the country and the tour guide filled in many interesting facts. The highlight for me was the Geyser and amazing waterfall. It was also perfect to end the day with a soak in a natural pool ( Secret Lagoon).

Great trip out, despite bit of a hiccup first thing with the bus being late. Small coach was comfortable, tour guide was really informative , they give you a good time at each place. We could have stayed for hours at the secret lagoon but they give you an hour and a half which is enough. Waterfall is a definite highlight- we loved it !

Thank you Rabbit739 for spending your time to share your experience. We are happy that you enjoyed the tour! I can only agree that Secret Lagoon is a place where you could longer if not the tour schedule :))
Good tour inadequate guide

The features are great. The guide's organizing skills were good but her talk consisted of personal annecdotes with very little to no onformayion ot insights on Iceland.

amazing day out, but viator take a large cut of the price if you book through them. So book before you go to guarantee your place and pay well over the odds, or wait till you get their to get good price but it might be fully booked although their are lots of company's running trips.

I really wish that I could have given this tour 5 stars, but could just have easily given it 3 stars. GOOD: Ample time at each of the four stops. Beautiful scenery. A great way to see many of Iceland's wonders. Bus was newer, clean, and the driver was very good. NOT SO GOOD: Bus came very late to pick us up almost 45 minutes because of a misunderstanding between guide staff and their administration. The guide seemed agitated for most of the trip. Not really all that friendly. Long stretches of time of silence. I think he could have begun the tour talking about Reykjavik as we drove through it, but we didn't pay for that so we didn't get it. OVERALL: I would recommend, but keep your expectations about service in check. A SUGGESTION: The bathroom on the bus was not functional I read this in other reviews-- guess they are not ever going to fix it. Only one place do you need to pay to use the WC-- the National Forest. If you can, hold yourself for the free facilities at Geysir. Also, remember to bring flip-flops for the Lagoon. We brought a bathing suit and they provided the towel, but many of the patrons had something on their feet as they walked through the locker room/showers-- good idea.

This tour was good although I would have preferred to have longer at each of the sites especially the tetonic plates as were only given half an hour and this was not enough to take it all in and have a proper explore. The geysers and waterfalls were amazing but again, I would have preferred to have a little longer at each but understand that there has to be time constraints in order to fit it all in. The secret lagoon was fantastic - here, I think we had just about the right amount of time. We had an hour and half and that was just enough to relax in the warm and sometimes very hot! waters. All very good, the guide was informative and everything ran to plan!
