Visit the Sistine Chapel and see works by Raphael, Da Vinci, and Michelangelo
Upgrade for even earlier fast-track entry including admission to the Raphael Rooms
As one of the most-visited museums in the world, the Vatican Museums are understandably crowded, so avoid the masses with a private morning tour before the general public arrives. After pickup at your hotel, explore the Vatican Museums with your private guide, who tells you about the history of the artwork and can customize the tour to your interests. If you wish, upgrade from standard early-morning admission to a “prime tour” option and be treated like a VIP. You’ll arrive 30 minutes earlier to enjoy priority entry without any lines or crowds, and gain access to the Raphael Rooms to admire Raphael's most famous frescoes. With either tour option, hear about the legends and mysteries behind some of the pieces on display, and learn about the Renaissance masters who created the artwork. You can decide if you want to see the iconic Sistine Chapel first or last—either way, it’s the highlight of any visit with its famous frescoes by Michelangelo. Other treasures inside the museum complex include sculptures, carvings and paintings; your guide will make sure you see the most important masterpieces and interesting rooms and galleries. Visit the Belvedere Courtyard, Gallery of Tapestries, and Gallery of Maps, and then gain fast-track entry into St. Peter’s Basilica to see more artwork, like Bernini’s baldacchino altar. Your tour ends in St. Peter’s Square, home to an Egyptian obelisk around which Bernini designed the square.
Alessia was an excellent guide for this tour. First of all, she and the driver were right on time at our hotel. The amount of history and knowledge provided by Alessia was just perfect. Although not in the tour, our teen sons asked about the “pope mobile” and she brought us down to see them. She was able to talk to us about the vehicles etc. my boys loved it. Overall, fantastic tour by Alessia and would highly recommend!
Linda, our guide, was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the Vatican, the historic (and current) Popes and the history associated with the relationship between religion and politics over the years.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the Vatican and Roman history in general. It was well worth the extra money to pay for this tour. It was not only private, but we also skipped ahead of the people that had other "skip the line" tours booked. We were in the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and many other areas of the Vatican with very few other people around us.
Our guide was on time. She was very thorough. I was also pleased that she seemed to love what she was doing. The early bird is definitely the way to go. The lines were really long and we didn’t wait at all.
Excellent. Valeria picked us up at 7.20 am from our hotel and took us through the Vatican museums, Galleries, Sistine Chapel and St.Peter’s Cathedral before the crowds hit. She was extremely knowledgeable.
My family and I had an amazing trip to Italy for Easter vacation. By far the highlight of our trip was our tours of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St Peters, the Coliseum and Forum. Our guide was Karen Libri. This is my fourth trip to Rome. She is by far the best tour guide that I have had. She was excellent at describing what we we about to see and what we were seeing. She was very engaging with my preteen and teenage daughters. Thank you Karen for making our trip so memorable and also for your most excellent restaurant recommendations!
Fabiana was a pure delight. Her depth of knowledge was appreciated. There was no question she did not handle with ease. She was also adorable and helped with my Italian. Grazie Mille Fabi.
