This tour was SO educational. Our guide, Michaela, was very knowledgeable, and her English was excellent. No question was out-of-line, so we learned about the school system, modern politics and other tidbits, as well as all the history. Caesar's Palace is a relatively new excavation, and we were the only ones there at the time of our tour: fascinating. This tour involves a lot of walking, which was great for us, but not suitable for wheelchairs or those with limited mobility. Michaela made sure to stop in the shade as often as possible, and the headsets ensured we did not all have to be right next to her in order to hear everything. The Colosseum was our teen son's favorite, and it was last on our tour, so we could stay as long as we wanted. Highly recommend this tour for a Roman history lesson!
We booked this tour excited to see the Coleseum and surrounding historical sites. We were greeted with our tour group and the tour left late. It was a very hot day in Rome around 100 degrees. Our tour guide Mikala, put her yellow hat in the hair and proceeded to sprint about 1/2 mile down the site and up 6 flights of stairs in the blazing sun only to find out the exhibit was closed. She then moved up more height to stand in the sun to show us the view of the historical Rome. She was somewhat knowledgeable but we were all too exhausted and over heated to enjoy your information. I asked her for shade and she said to find shade . Several in the group complained to her she was running to fast and it was super hot to slow down. Her excuse was that her company did not manager the tour property and she was making up time since we left late and the exhibit was closed without her knowing so she deviated from the original tour path and led us to another exhibit where we stood in line for 34 minutes. When the tour was over, we walked down a shaded hill which led to the original place she ran us to without the stairs and sun. I asked her why we didn't take this easier path up to the site originally and her response again, was that she wanted to get to the site quickly and the 6 flights of the stairs in the broiling sun was faster. Major safety issue. I would NEVER hire this company again. Mismanaged and have masses of tours which you would do yourself. NO value at all on this for us.
What a tour!!! 2000 years of history neatly packaged in a 3 hour tour. We normally don't do group tours because we prefer to be "self guided". However, due to the size of the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine hill, we decided to take the tour. It was a GREAT decision. There is no way without our guide Michele we would have been able to take in so much is such a short period of time. He was knowledgeable and informative. He was able to answer every question from our group and added information we would not have gotten on our own. He was also very supportive of the group and worked to ensure everyone from the youngest to the oldest was taken care of and had a good experience. If you are in Rome, take this tour. If you get Michele, I am sure you will have the best possible tour - I KNOW WE DID.
Finally, a guide who spoke understandable English! Yea. He was fun, informative, and knowledgeable. It was hot day with large crowds, so it was a difficult job to manage. Thank goodness for the audio system.
