For this 2-hour walking tour of Balboa Park’s highlights meet your small group a little before 10am at the Founder's Statue on the west side of the park. Your tour takes off at 10am sharp. Your guide is super familiar with the park and knows the best ways to help you see the most of the park in a short amount of time.
From the Founder's Statue we will head over to California Tower, one of San Diego’s most famous landmarks. Follow your guide’s lead into Alcazar Gardens and take in the scenery of colorful flowers and park fountains. We will make our way past the Old Globe Theatre which was modeled after The Globe Theatre London.
Next we will walk through the heart of the Prado to admire unique building facades and roof supports.
We will visit Zoro Gardens, the past the Bea Evenson fountain, the Natural History Museum and then a a pop into the Spanish Village Art Center. We'll take a break to grab a drink from a local coffee cart before continuing past one of the largest Morton Bay fig trees in California and the San Diego Junior Theater.
Next, we will visit the Botanical Building, closed on Thursdays, home to more than 2,100 plants.
After hitting up these hot spots, your guide takes you to the Plaza de Panama. Before you part ways, you can get an inside scoop from him or her about where you might want to go next. He or she is happy to give you recommendations for places to eat or tell you how to get to the Balboa Park Visitor Center.
