Muir Woods National Monument tour: Hotel pickup in San Francisco starts early for the drive north across the Golden Gate Bridge, meaning you’ll reach Muir Woods before many other tours arrive. On your way out of the city, see the Palace of Fine Arts and the Presidio.

Muir Woods National Monument is home to a pristine forest of California coastal redwoods, which are some of the planet’s tallest and oldest trees with heights that can reach 250 feet (76 meters). You have some time here to wander through the grove of giant sequoias and cross over mossy streams. Your guide will tell you about the local vegetation and wildlife along the nature trail. Then return to the tour vehicle for the drive further north into wine country.

Wine country tour: When you reach your first winery in Sonoma County’s Carneros region, you can explore the grounds, enjoy photo ops of the vineyard and sample a variety of wines in a welcoming atmosphere. For lunch, guests can choose one of two lunch options. The first is to venture out on their own and try one of the many cafés and restaurants located in the plaza. The second option is to upgrade their wine country experience to the next level with a private seated gourmet food and wine pairing experience at a local restaurant. They will enjoy delicious local food paired with a collection of California wines. After being greeted with Sonoma Valley cheeses and sparkling wine, guests may select a course such as white bean & vegetable soup, pasta with almond-arugula pesto and grated pecorino romano or grilled salmon with seasonal vegetables and balsamic reduction. Afterward, continue your tour to your second and third wineries in Sonoma County or Napa County for more tastings. Enjoy a leisurely stop at each winery, and you’ll have the chance to taste 3 to 5 wines of different varietals, from white to red to sparkling. Tasting fees are included, and you may purchase bottles not available in retail stores to take home. See below for a sample of wineries you may visit.

Your day trip ends with the drive back across the Golden Gate Bridge. Admire views of the vast Pacific and the rugged coastline before hotel drop-off.

Redwoods & Wine Country Escape with Gourmet Food & Wine Pairing upgrade: Discover Muir Woods National Monument, Sonoma & Napa Valley in 1 Day and enjoy an exclusive three-course gourmet meal and wine pairing. (Lunch for children not included in the rate and needs to get paid at the restaurant).

NOTE: Tastings are usually held at Kieu Hoang Winery Cline Cellars and Mayo Family Winery, but locations are subject to change, depending on availability.

It was amazing!! Albert was a great tour guide would definitely recommend to friends and if they are able to choose a tour guide I will tell them to choose Albert. Definitely very knowledgeable about the wines he helped me find my now favorite wine. My only suggestion is to get a different bus it was very hot on the bus.

Alberto does many tours well but this might be his favorite. I'll pass on your kind words. Thanks!

Roman is funny. Lots of tastings included. Lunch time was a little short but you’re getting a lot squeezed into the day so it’s understandable.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the "Roman Show". It's always fun. Good suggestion but we try not to linger so guests get more time at the winery experiences. Take care.

Roman was an awesome, hilarious and educational tour guide!! My mother and I absolutely loved the all day tour. We recommend you bring your own insulated water bottle and snacks. It turned out to be an all day adventure from 8am-7pm. The morning in Muir Woods was peaceful and chilly and by the time of our 2nd of 3 wineries it was hot, layers are important. We really enjoyed getting to meet new friends on the tour with us. We would definitely come back or go on more tours with Roman if we were staying longer. Thanks for the amazing adventure!!

Thanks for the recommendation about Roman. He will be very happy to hear that. Let's try another tour when you return.

Great guide - great tour

Our guide, Roman, made this experience great. We opted for the lunch which was fabulous, but there are other lunch options available for those who don’t want to do the add-on. It just might be a little rushed that way. Muir Woods was wonderful and each of the three wineries were enjoyable. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone!

Nice outing - easy way to see Muir Woods & wine country
Lindy-Jerry
, Jul 2021
Our tour guide, Kimmy, was fantastic! She was knowledgeable about the area, sites, and history, and brought great charm and personality to the outing. In fact, she made it memorable and entertaining. The vineyards we visited were mediocre. We did not enjoy any of the wines enough to purchase them, which was very disappointing. It would be nice if you had indicated in your information that a National Park Pass was accepted at Muir Woods - we obviously would have brought ours instead of having yo pay the entrance fee. But overall we enjoyed the day. Kimmy is a treasure!!
icon Response from Host , Aug 2021
We agree. Kimmy is wonderful. That's a very good suggestion about mentioning the annual national park pass. We'll add that to our tour reservation page. Take care.
