The Rock of Gibraltar

The Rock of Gibraltar is full of interesting history dating back to the year 711A.D when Tarik Ibn Zeyad, a Berber leader of the Arab Governor of North Africa “Musa Ibn Nosseyer” landed at the Southern end of the rock. The word Gibraltar is a derivative of the Arabic words ”Jebel Tarik” which means Tariks Mountain, and so his memory lives on.

Gibraltar experience
Anna_K, Jan 2023
Visiting Little Rock & Monkeys cave in Gibraltar was a very exciting experience. Our guide from Sevelle, Sandra and local guide in Gibraltar were very knowledgeable.
Wonderful Trip!
Bridget_M, Jan 2023
We had a wonderful time on this tour. Everything was well organized, and there was enough time to see everything that needed to be seen. The coach to Gibraltar was very comfortable, and Zuraida the guide was cheerful and lovely. Once we got to Gibraltar, Paco the guide and drive was really funny. I am very happy that we chose this trip, and my son had a great time.
Highly recommended.
Ross_A, Jan 2023
Whole experience was great, and low stress, everything was taken care of. From the bus trip itself to the tour on the rock, it was a pleasure. The tour company was very communicative, and phoned us to tell us the trip was running a few minutes late at around the pick up time. This was due to a late arriving passenger. The bus guide walked us through customs, informed us of interesting sites. At the rock a secondary operator / guide drove us around and was also super helpful. Again the transition between guides was seamless. Everything was super simple. But most imortantly the tour on the island was great, especially the caves. Highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing day without any stress, and excellent sites. I would do this one again for sure. Could I do this myself cheaper ? Of course ! But it would be a big hassle as it would involve orchestrating multiple "players". This was just a breeze. Exactly what you want on a holiday if you do not speak the local language.
Overall, poor service & misleading
Chapman_L, Jan 2023
Just have to point out that contrary to the tour description, this tour does NOT include hotel pickup/drop off. We had to take a taxi to a random carpark in the city centre as did the other 40 people in our tour group. The best part of the tour was the guide in Gibraltar, we did visit the caves, took pictures of the monkeys & had 1.5 hours free time. However, on the way back there was no stop for even a look break. That included the border where there was no restrooms on the outward point, thus almost 4 hours with no bathroom break, with no warning that this would happen. I believe there are regulations which stipulate even a break for the driver. So I was glad when the tour was over.

Gibraltar Day Trip
Jessica_A, Dec 2022
This was a great trip! We were picked up right across the road from our hotel. The bus was comfortable. Our guide (Maite) was nice and knowledgeable. There was a lot of walking which I was prepared for but also a lot of hills. My mom and I had a great time and we traveled with this company again later that week.
Excellent overview, value and guide. Would have skipped the cave.
Carrie_M, Dec 2022
Our guide, Petra, was excellent. Her personality made the tour even better. We got a very thorough overview of Gibraltar and we felt the overall value of the experience was worth it. If one day is all you have for a visit and you're in Granada, this is a good option. That being said, we ended up being very underwhelmed by the included visit to the St Michael's cave. If we had known there were other options in Gibraltar, we would have liked to visit someplace more unique, like the WWII tunnels or some other historical aspect of the area. That's just our opinion though. If you like theatrical music and light shows in a cave setting, you'll love it.

Great trip
Kaiyuan_X, Nov 2022
Walking from one country to another is always so cool! Both guides on the Spain side and the Gibraltar side were informative and friendly. You do need to walk from the border all the way to the Gibraltar town center to get on a different tour bus and later back to the border. Also, the tour doesn’t get you to the top of the rock, just the halfway of the rock, you may have enough time to do it on you own at extra expense. Other than that, it’s a great day trip!
A great quick trip to a new place
Christina_W, Nov 2022
This was a great day trip! Well organized, great communication from the operator the day before, everything was smooth and on time. The guides were kind and knowledgeable. While Gibraltar is small and may not be for everyone, it was far better than I expected.
Európa point and Hardings...
Tatiana_C, Nov 2022
Európa point and Hardings ´ battery, as well as the monkeys and the lighting effects in Michael ´ s cave

The cave lights and display, seeing the Monkeys with their babies. The guide stayed close and her tour was very enjoyable and insightful!
An Unexpected Delight
Gwendolyn_M, Oct 2022
Petra was a superb guide, and the local Gibraltar guide, Clive, even better! Informative, well organized and timed, great bus driver I’m kind of in awe of. Unexpected how much there is to learn about Gibraltar’s history and it’s current culture.

So many other places to visit.
Sue_P, Oct 2022
It was just an ok experience. The guide was awesome. However the tour itself was uneventful. The town was ugly. The process to get to Gibraltar was way to long for what we ended up seeing. Could have spent the day exploring other towns.
Smooth trip with great pics.
Scott_B, Sept 2022
The caves were spectacular. Don't miss the animated show inside. The monkey's of course were so cute too.
Great tour will do again , love history
Ebenezer_A, Aug 2022

Day trip
Celeste_G, Aug 2022
Definitely a great trip! We left at like 8am, it was a 2hr 30min drive, and got to Gibraltar around 1030. We got on a tour bus that took us up the hill where we were able to get off and see the cave and monkeys. Once back down we had an hour and a half after to roam around, shop or eat. Then arrived back in Sevilla around 6pm. If you want to spend a longer day maybe this isn't a trip you want to book but if you want to see the area for a few hours I definitely recommend booking!

This your delivered as...
David_E, Aug 2022
This your delivered as promised. Highlight was the bus ride, led by our driver with 28 years experience on the tight, winding roads up the Rock. I'm glad I wasn't driving!

Could Have Been Better
Walter_L, Jul 2022
Once we got to Gibraltar the tour was great. However, we drove in circles In Seville for an hour before actually getting on the road. We knew there were other pickup points but an hour of circling the city was uncalled for. When we arrived at Gibraltar and cleared passport control, we walked another 20 minutes to be handed off to another tour guide. We waited for 20 minutes for the guide but the guide was a no show. We then walked to the bus terminal to be told WE were late and the bus had departed with another group. I could really get into organizational optimization here but that would take more time than necessary. We finally did get a bus, two in fact because of the size of our group. Our guide was excellent, humorous, knowledgeable and just a delight. He made the trip worthwhile. Gibraltar is a beautiful place and I definitely would recommend a visit. However, a couple things that should be stated in the advertisement for the tour. Give a complete itinerary and what one should expect. For example we did not know we’d be handed off to another company for the actual tour. Explain up front there will be a lot of walking on this tour. There were several elderly people in our group and it was obvious the heat and amount of walking was taking its toll on them. Once you take care of these details you can then boast of being a 5 star organization.

Gibraltar was great
Tushar_C, Jul 2022
The tour was very good and so was our guide. St Michaels cave was very interesting. It was a good introduction to Gibraltar. I will go there again.

Worst tour EVER.
Anthony_T, Jun 2022
Prior to booking this trip I was very skeptical because of the unfavorable reviews, but I booked it anyway. We got to the Rock and there was no tour operator there to take us on our tour. We wasted the whole day away and never got to see the top of the rock. The worst part was that Viator is only reimbursing us $52.00. This tour and tour company is a freaking joke. DON’T do this tour, it was HORRIBLE. If I could give it zero stars I would. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE I WILL also never book with Viator again.

6hrs of driving in an uncomfortable bus, 2hrs of "free-time' in tourist shops, 90min on the rock, and we didn't go to the top. Our guide was knowledgeable, but this was a long ride for little tour.
