This tour started in a very very bad way, when I was requested to pay an additionnal 60 US because the hotel I was picked up at was not in Port of Spain. It was in Piarco, in a hotel close to the airport.. There was no indication whatsoever on the website, no pop-up when I entered the name of my hotel when I booked the tour altnough the name bore the word airport- that should have been a clue!!! or when I called Viator the day before my tour to confirm pick-up time, that I would have to pay that additional fee. I was really mad at the tour operator and talked on the phone to the same guy I had talked to the day before..He said that iinforming me of the additional 60 just slipped his mind... It was not the driver/guide' s fault and I did not want him to lose his workday either. He was unhappy about this situation too, but ended up being a nice, knowledgeable and charming host throughout the day thank you so much, Errol !!. The pitch lake is very interesting to see when you get good explanations as I did with a guide I think his name was 'Bobby who new every bit about this lake, the different textures, the different water colors , the positive impact on health of the different minerals... San Fernando is very iinteresting to see too, with the enormous energy plants you have no idea they exist when you first enter the city..The visit of the religious sites the actual temples were closed was of a lesser interest to me, but that is okay. To note is although Viator indicatees that all entrance fes are included in the tour, for what I have seen, there were no entrance fees in any of the sites I have visited, although my guide- rightfully so- paid he guide at he pitch lake. The Hindu sites have no fee, but donation boxes. Overall, the visit was interesting and Errol, my driver/guide/host definitely saved the day.. But I do have serious probems with the tour operator Viator not providing complete and proper information about itheir fees and claiming that all entrance fees are included in the tour price, when- in this case at least- they were non existant.
