We had a lot of difficulties with this tour. We didn’t hear from the local operator until the afternoon before our trip and they left a message leaving us only two hours to get back to them with our hotel address or they said they would consider us no shows (They would cancel our trip with no refund). Luckily I have international cell service and I was able to step out of the museum we were visiting to call them back in time. They only told us our pick up time later that evening (11:45 for an all day visit—in reality a half day since the palace closes at 6 and it took over an hour to get there with the other hotel pick ups). Arrival at the palace was fine, we were met by someone who gave us tickets and then sent on our way alone. This was fine, because we wanted to explore on our own. Pick-up at 7 pm from outside the palace was fine, but on the way home the driver said he would drop us a the Champs rather than our hotel. We explained that we had purchased hotel drop off and he called the main office who told us rudely that we were mistaken and that we must have been confused about which tour we booked. I had a copy of our booking with, but the person on the phone said we were wrong and told the driver to drop as at Champs anyway. The driver looked at our booking sheets and dropped us at the hotel (a sincere thanks to him for being reasonable and nice!). We had booked this to make the trip easier, but it ended up being stressful. We probably would have done better taking the public train on our own, which would have taken a bit longer for transit but would have let us experience the palace and grounds identically and would have been cheaper.
This trip included a pick up from the hotel and drive to Versailles and drop back. The driver was supposed to pick us up between 8am to 8:15am, but arrived at 9am. The versailles tour went well. The driver was supposed to pick us up at 2 pm, but arrived at 4pm. We had another tour scheduled, and ended up losing money on it, as a result of not being picked up on time.
The person who had to lead the group inside the Palace arrived late and in the meantime, it was very unclear where we were supposed to wait. The visit started 45 minutes after what it was scheduled.
The Palace and the gardens feel abandoned and it is extremely uncomfortable to move around and see something with so so many people visiting at the same time.
Our guide was good when she showed up. We were told to meet at a bar at 8:45am in Versailles. The guide didn’t show up until 9:30am, which was very irritating!! Once the tour started she was good and provided us with many interesting facts about Versailles.
