The Basics

Guided tours of the Belvedere Palace include the main palace buildings—the Upper Belvedere, Lower Belvedere, and Winter Palace (the Orangery)—as well as the Royal Stables and the lavish palace gardens. Opt to visit as part of a Vienna city tour; explore independently on a hop-on hop-off bus tour or using a Vienna Card; or combine it with a horse and carriage tour or candlelight dinner in Vienna.

Excellent, extremely knowledgeable and patient guide who was very enthusiastic about art and filled me in on all the details. You also get a tour of the gardens and outside area as well as the history. You will really get a lot out of this tour.

Belvedere Palace 2.5-Hour Private History Tour in Vienna: World-Class Art in an Aristocratic Utopia
Annalisle was a delight: she's knowledgeable, friendly, energetic -- and you may learn she has a pretty singing voice and is the 6th of 7 children. My wife and I took a private tour with her of Belvedere, and we highly recommend her.

Belvedere Palace 2.5-Hour Small-Group History Tour in Vienna
We were extremely fortunately to have Ira as our guide. She met us on time, helped us purchase the right tickets, provided a wonderful history of the place, walked us through the gardens, provided information on key pictures and recommended a great place for lunch. Belvedere Palace is beautiful and Ira helped us see that beauty. You will be fortunate, just like us, if you get her as your guide.

Belvedere Palace 2.5-Hour Small-Group History Tour in Vienna
My wife and I were visiting Vienna last week for the first time so we decided to have a guide to show us around the Belvedere. The guide (Ilse - unsure if that’s spelled correctly) was superb. She was very patient and made sure that we got to see all kinds of really interesting items and learned background information we couldn’t possibly have done ourselves - even with an audio guide/guidebook.

Belvedere Palace 2.5-Hour Small-Group History Tour in Vienna
Our guide Katherine was very knowledgeable and professional. We heard the story of the Belvedere and Prince Eugene's military success and his subsequent building of the Palace and acquiring his collection of art. It was a very interesting tour.

Belvedere Palace 2.5-Hour Small-Group History Tour in Vienna
We learned alot from our guide, Stephan. He explained the differences between the numerous styles of art and shared the history of the different art pieces. He also spoke of the history of Belvedere Palace and how it was built. We really realy enjoyed our tour and found Stephan's passion for history and art infectious.

Belvedere Palace 2.5-Hour Small-Group History Tour in Vienna
Wolfgang our guide was excellent. He made it perfectly clear where we were to meet him. It would be helpful to note more clearly that the price of the tickets is not included in the price of the tour. We saw the major works in the vast collection. Wolfgang was very knowledgeable and gave us deep insight into what we were seeing. He also correctly read us and ended the tour when we were overwhelmed by art. We enjoyed having coffee with him. He also made suggestions as to things we should do with our remaining time in Vienna.

Belvedere Palace 2.5-Hour Small-Group History Tour in Vienna
It was my last day in Vienna and I couldn't have chosen better tour to conclude my trip. I was the only one on the tour and tour went ahead. Dr. Christa Veigl is very knowllegeable, a lot of information about history, architecture of the palace and some stories about the original owner Eugene of Savoy. An excellent guide for the amazing palace. it was not as formal as it would have been should we had a big group of people. Three and half hours went really quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed our walk and conversation and would recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in a little bit more than just general info.

When to Get There

The palace is open daily year-round, but it can get busy during the peak summer months, so plan an early visit to avoid the crowds. To experience the palace at its most atmospheric, time your visit for the festive season, when a lively Christmas Market is held in the palace grounds, or look out for special evening openings and exhibitions, which offer a chance to admire the illuminated palaces by night.
