Overview

The Alhambra Palace in Granada is one of Andalucía’s most visited attractions, but you don’t have to stay in the city to experience it. This full-day tour from Almeria includes hotel pickup, round-trip transport, skip-the-line entrance to the Alhambra Palace, and an audio tour of the Alcazaba, Nasrid Palace and the Generalife Gardens.
  • Full-day tour of Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens from Almeria
  • Take in the highlights of Granada both with and without your guide
  • Enjoy skip-the-line entrance to the UNESCO-listed Alhambra
  • Explore the famous palace complex on a 2.5-hour audio tour, including the Alcazaba, Nasrid Palace, and the Generalife Gardens
  • Great-value tour includes hotel pickup, round-trip transport, and entrance fees
Your tour begins with pickup from your Roquetas de Mar, Aguadulce, Almerimar, or Almeria hotel in time for an 8am departure. Traveling aboard a comfortable air-conditioned coach, set out on the around 2-hour journey to Granada and enjoy the scenery as you wind through the Sierra Nevada National Park and drive along the Mediterranean Coast. There will be a short stop along the way to stretch your legs, use the restrooms, or grab a coffee.

On arrival in Granada, enjoy a bus tour of the city and listen as your guide points out notable landmarks such as Granada Cathedral, Plaza Neuva, and the Royal Chapel of Granada. Finally, arrive at the star attraction, the Alhambra Palace and use your skip-the-line pass to gain priority access.

After picking up your electronic audio guide, set out to explore the vast palace complex at your own pace. Learn more about the Nasrid dynasty as you visit the Nasrid Palaces, marveling at the Palacio de Comares (Comares Palace), the Patio de los Arrayanes (Court of the Myrtles), and the Salón de los Embajadores (Hall of the Ambassadors), then stop to take photos of the Patio de los Leones (Court of the Lions), with its famous "Fountain of Lions", the symbol of the Alhambra.

Continue to the Palace of Charles V and admire the contrasting Renaissance and Islamic style architecture, then look out over the city from the Alcazaba, the oldest part of the Alhambra. Finally, stroll around the idyllic Generalife Gardens, the former summer residence of Granada’s Muslim kings and one of the oldest surviving Moorish gardens in the world.

Before setting out on the return journey, you will have free time in Granada to enjoy lunch (own expense), browse the shops for souvenirs, or sightsee independently.

Back in Almeria, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

A great trip. We were picked up on time at our ship and driven to Alhambra. The trip was beautiful. We stopped just enough to break up the 2 1/2 hour trip. Alhambra is well worth it. The guide was filled with great information. At Alhambra we were turned over to a local tour guide who was waiting for us. We were back at the ship in plenty of time. Our group of four was very happy.

Excellent trip! Not to be missed. Short visit to Granada first where we had time to visit the Cathedral and a wander through the streets and shops then on to Alhambra - this surpassed all expectations the guide as very good and was absolutely essential for the visit. Amount of time spent was perfect! So glad we took the trouble to go. The journey, scenery - everything was top class! Highly recommend Pepe Tours in Roquettes. Would definitely book with them again.

We enjoyed our trip to Granada and Alhambra very much, but was very disappointed in the way the tour company provided us with transportation. We were picked up from the port along with other people and then were supposed to be driven to a larger bus where approx. 40 people would take the 2 hr drive to Granada. Apparently one of the couples overslept and we waited nearly 30 minutes on the minibus...getting very upset. The driver finally left and then learned the couple was ready and he went back to the port to pick them up. This made everyone on the minibus very angry. We lost 45 minutes when we got to Granada. It gave us 1 hour to walk around and have lunch which was a very small amount of time before we had to leave for Alhambra.

If visiting from the port the tour does not start there. We had 12 people from our ship going on this tour so they agreed to pick us up at port but the charge was 40 Euro per person for a 8 minute ride, very steep. Once on the big bus to Alhambra our tour rep was fair with English and her explanations were also fair. We had a 1.5 hour stop in Granada Spain and she did not wait for all the people to get off the bus so people in the back were panicked on which way to go. The street map they give is pretty much useless but fairly easy to find your way around, and a good city to visit, food , shopping, sites. the tour and guide of Alhambra were excellent our tour guide there was Bob, excellent English and tremendous knowledge

Pepe Tours the local operator was amazingly flexible. When our ship couldn't make it to Almeria because of weather, they arranged to pick up the eight of us in Malaga where we spend a second night for an extra charge of course. Even though it rained all day, the tour and our guide were great - he even directed us to a great place for lunch before our Alhambra tour.

We had an okay time, but not amazing. We liked having the tour guide, but the information provided was a little bit superficial. We would have liked to learn more about some of the chronology of the history of the Alhambra and the significance more broadly. For example, in each room, we looked at the Christian architectural influence versus Muslim architectural influence, without any details about how the power shift came to be or what that meant in Spain. While we also appreciated that the tour was provided in both Spanish and English, the guide would describe an entire room in one language before switching to the other for the second half of the time, which left half the group wandering around a little bored for 50 of the time, sometimes 10-15 minutes at a time.

Our tour was from Roquetas de Mar to the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens.
We were picked up from our hotel on time and had a really lovely drive up to Granada with commentary from our very good tour guide, Guillermo. The Granada walking tour was very good, no shortage of tapas restaurants in the area for lunch.
Only 8 on our tour opted for the Alhambra visit, the others staying in Granada for free time/sightseeing.
The Palace and gardens are absolutely spectacular. The architecture is breathtaking. The return drive, by a different route, was also as enjoyable as the drive up.
However, the actual tour around the Palace and gardens is a 'do it yourself' job. On arrival we were given an A4 double sided laminated sheet of pictures with numbers on it and an unweildy 8-10 handset. The idea is you walk about this vast area and match the pictures to the site you're at - not good. The place is very busy so you have to keep moving, it's very difficult to look, match with a picture, key in the relevant number to the handset, listen and actually get the feel of where you are at. We eventually gave up. There are a good few information boards dotted around so we read them, took loads of pictures and bought a lovely book in the gift shop and have ' revisited' the Alhambra and gardens in the comfort of our home.
The Alhambra and gardens are much too special to miss out on the history and splendour of the place whilst matching pictures to numbers and fiddling with a handset. A live tour guide would make visiting here much more real and enjoyable for your customers but no doubt this would be reflected in the cost of the tour.
We have travelled the world, used Viator for transfers and tours but this tour was a bit of a let down.

We only joined this trip at lunchtime as we were already in Granada. It was good to not have to queue up but I would have liked longer in the Palace and gardens

The tour that we purchased though Viator was the worst experience of our trip. We purchased a guided tour of The Alambhra for 168 dollars US. and What we got was a map and 2 audiophones that were not working and difficult to find The sites through the tour. They overbookef. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
