Your King’s Walkway adventure begins with pick-up from your Málaga hotel by private vehicle. Before setting out on your hike, stop in the village of Ardales for a traditional Andalusian breakfast – the ideal start to your morning hike.
Then, it’s time to lace up your hiking shoes and set out along the infamous Caminito del Rey or ‘King’s Walking Way’. Follow your guide along the hair-raisingly steep wooden pathway, which hangs from the cliff-side, 328 feet (100 meters) above the Gaitanes Gorge. Learn about the road’s notorious history and it’s recent reconstruction from your guide, and dare to look out over the gorge, spotting the remains of the original road below.
After tackling the 4.8-mile (7.7km) route and admiring the views over the dramatic gorge and the surrounding El Chorro Natural Park, head to a local restaurant to re-fuel. Enjoy an insight into Andalusian cuisine as you tuck into a tasty 2-course lunch and sample an array of regional specialties. After a leisurely lunch, relax on the drive back to Málaga, where your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.
