Why Travelers Choose This Tour

The upgrade option is the only small-group tour that includes both the scenic Montserrat and the architectural wonder La Sagrada Familia.
This small-group visit to the majestic monastery of Montserrat, with optional skip-the-line upgrade to visit La Sagrada Familia, offers two of Barcelona's top attractions in one great package. If you're short on time or simply looking for a way to visit two Barcelona highlights, this excursion is a great option.
Start your trip at either 8:30am or 1:45pm (depending on the option you pick) from central Barcelona near the Palau de la Musica. Board your comfy minivan for the beautiful 1-hour drive up to Montserrat. Once you arrive at this towering mountain site, you'll have the option to ride the landmark's famous cable car (at your own expense) up to the top, enjoying incredible views of the surrounding area. If you prefer, you can simply stay on board your minivan for the ride to the top.
Upon reaching Montserrat, follow your guide on an exploration of its 1,000-year old Santa Maria de Montserrat Basilica. Inside you'll discover the landmark's main attraction, the Virgin of Montserrat. After visiting the Basilica, spend time exploring the Museum of Montserrat's many religious sculptures and artifacts. Guests who prefer to skip the museum can enjoy the hiking trail that circles the mountain, offering great views of Catalonia. Or take a ride on the rack railway (at your own expense) which winds its way around the mountaintop.
La Sagrada Familia Upgrade:
Make the most of your time in Barcelona by combining your Montserrat tour with skip-the-line entry to Antoni Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia church. With this upgrade, you can choose the time and date of your visit, giving you the freedom to fit it in with your other plans.Simply inform in the Special Requirements section when you want to visit the church between 9am and 6pm. If you do not state a specific time to visit the church, your tickets will be purchased automatically for the same day of your visit to Montserrat. If you are doing the afternoon tour, your tickets will be bought for a time between 10am and 12pm the following day. If you are doing the morning tour, your tickets will be bought for a time between 3pm and 6pm the same day. Please contact the office to arrange collection of the tickets. We had a wonderful tour of Monstserrat with Miguel as our guide! Nice “chilly” day With lots of inside information provided! Thank you! Highly recommended!

It was an okay trip. Everything went as expected.

Our tour guide, Nicholas, was fantastic....very interesting and knowledgable !!!! Wish we had had an earlier start since the crowds in Montserrat begin to grow as the day progressed. The only disappointment was that he just dropped us off at La Sagrada Familia and we entered with all the other tourists---no such thing as skip the per the lady at the audio desk (which wasn't included to our surprise). Sort of felt alittle taken.

Beautiful trip. We met at Explore Catalunya, near the Palau Musica. Nice small group -- 6 in all. Extremely knowledgeable guide. Friendly, and with a great sense of humor. He was from Ireland but has been in Barcelona for quite some time. I especially appreciated the tips about checking out the library at Montserraat and also the Art Museum there. We had plenty of time to explore on our own.

Montserrat was such a majestical place. In my opinion I could've spent an entire day here. Whatever you do please carve out time to ride the monorail up and down. The views are amazing, even the hike is worth it.
La Sagrada Familia is an amazing basilica.
Visiting both locations help me to have a deep understanding a growing love for Spain.

The day we took the tour it was raining and this made the tour less inviting than what it could have been if fine.
Beautiful scenery on the trip to/from Montserrat.
A fair bit of walking so it is not recommended for those with walking disabilities.
La Sagrada Familia is a must see.
Outstanding workmanship.
Glad we had the pre-paid tickets as the queues were huge with over an hours wait time to be admitted.

Montserrat has spectacular views. Such a beautiful and peaceful place. I was so happy I had the same tour guide I had on my previous tour, Sergio. We were there early in morning so the clouds were still up in the mountain. We had free time so I decided to stay in the Basilica and museum. There are restaurants in the lower parts of the ground where you can get food and drink. I took this tour in the morning with the option to the skip-the-line visit to the Sagrada Familia in the afternoon. Once we returned to the tour site after Monserrat I hopped in a taxi to the Sagrada Familia and had enough time to eat at a restaurant near by before seeing the Cathedral. I am very pleased with all the Viator tours, well organized and great tour guide.

Interesting place. We were there in November so a lot of the facilities were shut. A good bonus was there were not big crowds so it was easy to see the Black Madonna. The art gallery is very good

A bit disappointed with this tour. The Monserrat Monastery though was an amazing place to visit specially good to know that the Black Madonna was enshrined at the basilica. We even had the chance of hearing a mass celebrated in Catalunian language. The guide's command of the english language was so so. Sometimes hard to even understand maybe due to the tour guides different accent. We were handed our ticket to the Sagrada Familia and I asked if a guided tour would be provided and he said only audio guide. When we got to Sagrada, the lady at the entrance said our ticket did not come with an audio guide. Apparently, the guide gave us a wrong info. So disappointing.

Our guide was very knowledgable and since this was a small group of about seven, we were able to see and do a lot. I would
recommend this tour.
