9-hour tour to the Ming Tombs and the Great Wall at Mutianyu
Experience some of China's most significant pieces of history
After hotel pickup in Beijing by your guide in an air-conditioned vehicle (only hotels within the second ring road of the downtown area are included), your day tour starts with the drive to the Ming Tombs, a series of mausoleums built by China's Ming dynasty emperors.
When you arrive, you have time to look around, and then visit a local restaurant for lunch. You also have the chance to learn about China's history and culture of jade. After eating, head to your second destination, the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Enjoy views of the countryside as you pass through a village, and then head up the mountain via cable car (own expense). You can also get back down from the wall on a toboggan (own expense). Enjoy time to walk on the wall and take photos before starting the trip back to Beijing, stopping on the way for a short traditional tea ceremony.
Your tour ends with hotel drop-off in the central city.

Our tour guide, Vik, was very knowledgeable and helpful. We enjoyed leisure time at each stop and took many photos. It was a full day. Be prepared for a lot of walking.

It was a lot of fun, our guide Paul was very patient and excellent. Perfect amount of time at each location, the Ming tomb and Mutianyu Great wall were just spectacular, plenty of time to explore the Great Wall. Make sure you wear comfortable sneakers as it was not an easy trek along the wall, and the lunch was delicious with a range of dishes provided for us, the stops at the Jade factory and Chinese tea house were very interesting too, a trustworthy and well-organized tour, all in all, I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Beijing and the tour was affordably priced!
Was looking forward to this tour but was greatly disappointed. Our Guide Henry was not very enthusiastic and getting information was like pulling teeth. His english was good but he really seemed like he did not want to be there. I would have skipped the ming tomb and spent extra time at the Great wall. The location was fantastic with not many tourists. Lunch was ok.. The added tea shop was nice. I think Henry just need to be able to offer more information and history.
The opportunity to visit the Great Wall at Mutianyu is not to be missed. You even have the option to experience the realistic steps or a more traditional steps and walk along the wall as you desired. The lunch was fine and the tour guide purchased all of our gondola tickets to expedite the process. The small group tour was extensive including visit to a Jade Factory and Tea House and the tour guide was very knowledgable and spoke good English. Note that Ming Tomb requires a lot of stair climbing, but visiting the tomb itself can be skipped. This is a very long tour 12 hours in part because of traffic in and around Beijing.
I booked group tour package to Mutianyu Great Wall and Ming Tombs for 2 pax through Viator. We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Nancy, was very knowledgeable and she spoke fluent English, and she was also happy to answer questions about the places we visited, there were several Chinese dishes tea was included in the package, other drinks were paid separately. The Mutianyu section of Great Wall and Ming tomb were impressive, the visit to Jade factory and tea house was especially nice. Overall, I was satisfied with guide and driver service. All round a great day - I highly recommended this tour.
Our tour guide Lily was excellent and showed us a good overview of the background and history of the sites we visited, well The Mutianyu Great Wall and Ming Tomb were just spectacular and impressive, it was much better than what I expected, the side trips to the teahouse and Jade gallery were very interesting too. Highly recommended!
