Whoever came up with the idea for a chocolate tour was a genius, right? Add the elegance and charm of downtown Boston to the equation and it’s a recipe for sweet success.

There are two different guided, small-group walking tours to choose from — Back Bay and South End.

Boston’s Back Bay area is considered one of America’s most desirable neighborhoods. This busy area is home to the two tallest members of Boston’s skyline, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, plus architectural delights like Trinity Church and the Boston Public Library. It’s famous for its rows of Victorian brownstone homes, but its streets are also lined with unique shops, trendy restaurants and yes, chocolate shops. Visit a Swiss chocolatier famous for the Dom Perignon Champagne Truffle and a famous New England ice cream maker focused on Fair Trade chocolate. Try cupcakes and even a chocolate-covered cricket or chocolate worm. Pick up samples and get tips on tasting, buying and storing fine chocolate.

The South End of Boston is a Landmark District with some of Boston’s finest restaurants, a thriving arts community, the largest row of intact Victorian houses in the country and nearly 30 residential parks. There is also award-winning chocolate, of course. Visit David’s Teas, a new South End hot spot where anyone with a sweet tooth will appreciate the chocolate teas. There is also a bakery and restaurant owned by celebrity chefs, gluten-free and kosher truffles, and an adult beverage made exclusively for tour participants, plus cupcakes and several cool and refreshing treats.
