In Budapest, you’ll have the chance to see famous landmarks like the Buda Castle, the shops and restaurants lining Andrassy Avenue and the iconic statues in Heroes’ Square. The sightseeing will continue when you arrive in Vienna, with stops at the Burgtheater, Schonbrunn Palace, the State Opera House and more.

Please see the Itinerary section below for details on each day of the tour.

Day 1
When you arrive at the Budapest airport, take your included private transfer to your well-located hotel in the center of Budapest. After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to explore the city on your own.

The largest city in Hungary, Budapest is full of UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Buda Castle, Andrássy Avenue and Heroes' Square.

Day 2
Enjoy your buffet breakfast (included), and then choose when you’d like to take your 1.5-hour panoramic guided tour of Budapest – either in the morning or afternoon. See the main sights in both Buda and Pest, the city’s two sections. Pass by examples of some of Budapest's finest architectural achievements, such as the magnificent neo-Gothic Parliament building, home of the Holy Hungarian Crown.

Be impressed by the old Jewish “Golden Triangle” quarter, and then visit Matthew’s Church and the Fisherman’s Bastion, from where you’ll enjoy a spectacular view over the whole city!

During the time you are not on your tour, you will have free time to discover more of the city on your own.

Day 3
Enjoy your included buffet breakfast, and then make your way to the train station (transport at own expense; approx. 27.50 euros per car) to depart Budapest for Vienna by train (train ticket included; departures every hour). During the 2.5-hour train ride to the Austrian capital, enjoy views out the window of the beautiful landscape.

After checking in to your centrally located hotel, take advantage of free time for the rest of the day. Vienna is a city of culture, music and classical architecture, and is famous as the home of psycho-analyst Sigmund Freud; discover its beautiful sights at your leisure.

Day 4
After your buffet breakfast (included), choose either a morning or an afternoon 3.5-hour guided tour of Vienna, which will give you a thorough overview of the city’s most significant historical sights. You'll see the State Opera House, Parliament, City Hall, the Burgtheater, the Votive Church and a few museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts. Schonbrunn Palace is another highlight of your sightseeing tour; it was the residence of Empress Elizabeth, affectionately known as ‘Sissi’ to the Austrians.

Day 5
After your included breakfast, head back to Budapest by train. From the Budapest train station, take your included private transfer to the airport for your flight home or elsewhere.

I first want to say that this trip is still worth the price when you consider the cost of the hotels. My wife and I did the 4 star hotel and they were both very nice. The hotel in Budapest even came with its own cell phone that you could take around the city with you. I would suggest getting a city pass because you get free transportation in Budapest. The cabs try and overcharge you thinking you won't catch them putting extra money on the bill and they don't have uber in Budapest. We also got the Vienna pass which allowed us on the hop on hop off bus and got us into everything for free. You pay more for it, but it pays for itself after the third museum that you walk into. The nice thing about Vienna is that you have Uber if you don't want to take cabs or the public transportation.

The site seeing tours that come with this package are not worth it. We skipped the Budapest one and wish we would have skipped the Vienna tour. It was three hours of driving around the city with a stop at a palace. We wish we would have done it on our own so we could have used the three hours to see more of the city. The palace was covered in our Vienna card anyway.

On our last day of the trip, our travel agency didn't pick us up and we ended up having to take a cab to the airport.

Overall - it was a great trip. I think if we had it to do over again, we would have just gone to either Budapest or Vienna. I would suggest spending a week in Vienna because there is so much to see. Budapest, you can see a lot, but you can see it in two days. I would highly suggest doing a river dinner cruise while there. It was our highlight seeing Budapest at night on the river and sampling local foods.

The tour agents were prompt in reply and overall experience is good. Suggestion is to offer a handful of 3 star or 4 star hotels for selection. This tour should include transfer to train station in Budapest and Vienna, so that it is more complete.
