  • Explore medieval streets and hidden pathways while hearing Budapest’s folklore tales and legends
  • Visit Castle Hill's important historic sights and venture to secret locales most tourists miss
  • Enjoy jaw-dropping panoramic views of Budapest and the Danube River from Fisherman’s Bastion
Castle Hill is one of Budapest’s biggest attractions and a must-see while you’re there. The medieval buildings, Royal Palace and sweeping views of Pest and the Danube keep the mood festive here year round.

Your tour will begin with hotel pickup in Budapest, where your guide will take you to the public transportation stop (ticket included) to bring you to the Castle District for your 2-hour walking tour. Your guide will regale you with anecdotes, folklore and the rich history of Hungary’s capital city.

Then head to the Royal Palace, home to the Hungarian National Gallery and Budapest History museum. Examine the exterior of this grand structure while learning some additional facts about the castle from your guide. You’ll continue on through the streets of Castle Hill, passing landmarks slightly off the beaten path for an even deeper understanding of the district.

The next stop will be at Matthias Church, where you’ll tour the interior (entrance included) and the lovely murals on display. On days when the church is closed, you’ll take a tour of the building’s intricate exterior. With its colorful tiled roof and neo-Gothic architecture, the church is a beloved attraction in the Castle District.

Fisherman’s Bastion will be the last stop on your walking tour, an arcade built on the fortification wall that is a prime place for taking photos. Take in the magnificent views of Margaret Island, Pest and the Danube below. Your guide will share recommendations for continued sightseeing before departing back to central Budapest.

An excellent tour of the Castle District we did in mid-July. Balint was our guide for this tour. He did a great job and adjusted things to fit our interests. He was personable and very knowledgeable -- in fact he was able to answer a question I had about Matthias Church that two other guides couldn't answer.

Definitely book this tour, it is great and you have a lot of flexibility. Our tour guide was Frank who met us promptly at our hotel in the Opera district. Frank showed us a map and gave us an overview of our itinerary. We walked past Saint Stephens Basilica and to the Chain bridge at which point we decided to catch the bus to the top of the Buda hill. From there Frank gave us an awesome tour of all the sites including Fishermans Bastion, Matthias Church, Hilton and the Castle, Frank is extremely knowledgeable and we learnt a lot. My wife and I also really enjoyed Franks humor and the great general conversation we had about Budapest. At the end of the tour, Frank gave us a bunch of awesome tips about what else to see and do in Budapest.

This tour was amazing. Victoria was very professional and showed us/talked about extra things that no other tourists would have seen or heard about without a guide. Very interesting. Would highly recommend!

Brilliant, highly recommended. Viki was full of information and answered all the questions of my 14 year son. So much better than just wandering around on your own. Will do it again when I visit another city

Our guide Tamas was excellent. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging when explaining the history and sites visited. A very worthwhile experience of having your own personal guide.
