Buenos Aires Super Saver: City Sightseeing Tour and Tango Dinner Show
, Mar 2019
This tour was in two parts - a City Tour in the morning and a Tango Show in the evening. The city tour was okay in that we went to many of the the key city sites and points of interest but the young lady who gave the commentary spoke too fast and switched from Spanish to English too quickly to follow for any length of time. The result was that most of us gave up trying to listen and just took in the views as we went along. Also, although the tickets said in the small print that we would be dropped off at central points in the city rather than being dropped of back at our hotel, we were dropped off at a point that was a long way from our hotel with no real help or information on how to get back. The commentator's advice was to take a taxi but without previous experience of taxi's in the Buenos Aires we were a bit reluctant to do this. Fortunately, we had a map and after a few minutes of correctly locating ourselves on it were able to walk back to our hotel, although this took about 45 minutes and I would not recommend it for people with mobility issues. This was the major downside to this part of the tour.
By contrast, the Tango Show in the evening at the Cafe de Los Angelitos was excellent. The dancers and singers were superb and the food was top class - highly recommended.
I have only given this tour a three star rating because of the commentary and drop situation for the city tour in the morning. However, I would give the Tango Show 5 starts plus.
We were continuing on a cruise from Buenos Aires and we later found that one lady on the cruise had her gold necklace snatched from her neck and another had her mobile phone taken during their time in Buenos Aires. We didn't see anything like that and, in general, thought that it was a very nice city, especially the Recoleta part where our hotel was located.
This is two tours in one. The day tour of the city was good. The only issue is that it took almost an hour to pick up all of people from six different hotels. The traffic in the city is very congested. The night portion of this tour was better. We went to the Los Angelitos restaurant and had a nice steak dinner and then about an hour show of different Tango dances. All very nice and professional.
The city tour was fun, the guide knowledgeable. However, she had both a Spanish and English group to speak to, and it was sometimes difficult to stay attuned. The tour picked us up at our hotel, and dropped us close by - great! The tango show at Tango Porteno was excellent, although the food was just adequate. All in all, a great day and lots of fun in BA!
We enjoyed this tour. It would have been nice to have a little more time at the Italian Boca area.
The Tango Dinner and Show was very good. It might have been interesting to sit with some other people rather than just us. However the position of the seats were very good with an excellent view of the stage.
The city tour was very good with an informative guide who spoke in both Spainish and English. The tour was more informative and covered areas that the Hop On Hop Off bus didn't. We considered it better than the Hop On Hop Off bus.
The Tango Dinner show was great. Pick Up at the Hotel was right on time, and was outside immediately as the show finished. Dinner was good and the steak was excellent. Show was dynamic and had a real story to it which made it interesting and the dancing excellent. At tango comes from BA the show is part of the cultural experience. We considered it good value for the money we paid.
The tour of BA was very informative. The tour director was very friendly and helpful. She went the extra mile in swiching from Spanish to English since we had visitors from both mexico and the US.in the tour bus. We would recommend the tour for people that need an initial overview of BA.
