Overview

Interact with the world of the ancient Maya during a ‘temazcal' purification ceremony led by a local expert. Meaning ‘house of heat,’ temazcal is a type of Maya sweat lodge. Follow up with a cenote swim and a dinner of Maya cuisine after you learn to make your own tortillas. This 4-hour evening experience includes a professional guide and round-trip hotel transport from Cancun.
  • Maya evening purification ceremony and dinner
  • Participate in a curative ritual, led by a Maya shaman
  • Swim in a sacred cenote after sweating inside a temazcal
  • Learn to prepare tortillas and eat an authentic dinner
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off in Cancun included
Get acquainted with the pre-Hispanic Maya cultures of the Yucatan Peninsula during a shaman-led purification ceremony. After hotel pickup in Cancun, your guide accompanies you inside a type of ancient Maya sweat lodge called a temazcal.

You’ll receive an explanation of the ritual the Maya people use to cleanse body and soul, and have the unique opportunity to partake in its curative powers. Learn about the symbols, elements and plants, including resin from the copal tree, commonly used to relieve symptoms and ailments.

Once you’ve sweated out your impurities, refresh with a cenote swim. Then observe women from a local Maya community as they prepare authentic dishes for dinner. You’ll learn to make your own tortillas before sitting down for a delicious meal.

The 4-hour tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

I search “temazcal near PLAYA MUJERES” this thing is 2 hrs away from here, even worse, we spent 1.5 hrs picking up people from many different places, all of them long distance among each other. The experience is overrated and there were big spiders inside the temazcal, food portions were very good and there is no chance to ask for anything else, not even freaking sauce. The only good thing are the guides, all of them are freaking hot and speak multiple languages.

Incredible experience. Angel ( our guide ) was so informative, nice and funny. But nothing can top this river and caves. Would love to have this tour up to 6 hours of experience... longer trip.. hope that someday it will happen.

Cancun Super Saver: Tulum and Coba Ruins Including Cenote Swim and Lunch | Mar 2020
This was a fabulous day trip! Our guide Carlos was brilliant and both Tulum and Coba are well worth the visit. We were picked up from our hotel in Cancun on time but it takes about an hour to get everyone on board. First stop was Tulum where we had plenty of time to look around. We then had lunch at the Cenote and went for a swim, again plenty of time allowed for everything. We then continued on to Coba. As Carlos was concerned that we might not have time to climb the pyramid he organised tricycles for us to get there in time and we climbed to the top of the pyramid which was a great experience. We then walked back to the bus. The whole trip took 12 hours, a fabulous day that we absolutely enjoyed and it was well organised.

Playa del Carmen Jungle Tour: Tulum, Cenote Snorkeling, 4x4 Ride and Ziplining | Mar 2020
Our guide was Tonatzin and she was AWESOME! They were on time, professional and the activities were BEYOND AMAZING. We've ziplined and snorkeled before but the cenotes made them both unbelievably better. There's no 4x4 or whatever, so don't purchase for that reason. Our family of five, including teenagers and a preteen, all said this was the greatest excursion ever!

Nice way to view the Blue!

Cancun Parasailing Adventure | Mar 2020
The adventure was very nice. Scenic view of the beautiful water in Cancun. I was injured boarding the boat to go out to the adventure. Why is there no other way to board? The driver has to hoist you in while stepping on his knee. My foot slipped and I was thrown in the boat and landed on my elbows. My arms and legs are bruised and elbows were scraped by the jagged boat floor. Hard to enjoy the excursion while your limbs are burning.

Highly recommended - a trip to remember

Rio Secreto Underground River Tour with Crystal Caves | Mar 2020
Wonderful experience! Definitely recommend it. Our guide Pablo was great at pointing out interesting things during the trip and giving us fascinating pieces of information as we went along. Down in the caves, as you swim along, silence takes on a new definition and you end up losing all sense of time. Nat Geo is involved in the management and it shows in the overall quality of the experience. Just one thing though, and this is the only reason why this trip gets 4 stars instead of 5. When you book on Viator, hotel pick up option is not clear. We ended up booking without it, and realized our error only when the local operator sent us an email. We had to contact Viator who helped us get the right option (btw, if you change your existing booking to add transportation, you will end up paying an extra few $ compared to a booking that includes pick up at the outset; easier to just cancel and rebook through a Viator agent who will make all the necessary changes in their system). Either Viator should improve the experience so customers can clearly pick an option, or you need to double check your registration if you want transportation from your hotel. If you don't have your own transport, you will need the hotel pick up; it is a fairly long drive from the Zona Hotelera area, where we were staying.

Playa del Carmen Jungle Tour: Tulum, Cenote Snorkeling, 4x4 Ride and Ziplining | Mar 2020
Enjoyed the excursion - even thou I was not able to participate in most of the activities due to minor injury (fell and hurt foot) Rudy was a great guide - explained all activities and made sure that I was guided thru the jungle to meet up with the group. Would have preferred an all English speaking group (we were the only 2 in the original group) My friend was able to complete the activities and truly enjoyed the day. Lunch was good and a very nice day to enjoy the area and the sun

Very unorganized

Playa del Carmen Jungle Tour: Tulum, Cenote Snorkeling, 4x4 Ride and Ziplining | Mar 2020
The activities in the tour were wonderful! What’s bringing the rating down is the large amount of waiting and disorganization of the tour. The description of the tour said we would have an hour in Tulum to explore. We had 10 minutes. Then we had to wait and wait for zip lining. Lunch wasn’t served until 4 and it wasn’t a buffet style lunch. Very disappointed overall. The cenotes was fun and our guide was doing his best, but wasn’t enough.

Playa del Carmen Jungle Tour: Tulum, Cenote Snorkeling, 4x4 Ride and Ziplining | Mar 2020
This tour was great. We visited two cenotes and we also were part of a Mayan ritual which was so cool! We enjoyed every moment of it. We did get confused with the 4x4 we thought we were going to ride ATVs but we really just got into a big truck LOL.

Beautiful Caves and Fun Guides

Rio Secreto Underground River Tour with Crystal Caves | Mar 2020
From other reviews, I was a little worried about what to expect inside this cenote. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the swim through the 'underworld' is beautiful and the tour about the right duration. Our guide, Leo, was fantastic, so friendly and informative. This tour was a great beginning to our first trip to Cancun and one of the best cave experiences we've enjoyed. I would bring friends back.
