Meet your guide and group of eight or fewer in central Chengdu, and delve into the Wide and Narrow Allleys to discover the city’s culinary scene. Come hungry: four to five food stops, a hotpot, plus unlimited beer and sodas are included.

The heart of old Chengdu, the Wide and Narrow alleyways and courtyards are lined with Ming- and Qing-era buildings and teahouses, many converted into shops, restaurants, and food outlets.

Absorb the historical atmosphere and architecture, and visit a beautiful courtyard to sample local tea and traditional snacks. Admire the ornate teahouse as you learn about tea-drinking etiquette before stopping to sample local street snacks.

Delve into a bustling wet market and peruse the wares as you learn about the spices and ingredients of Sichuan cuisine and its staple dish of hotpot.

Then, visit a restaurant to savor an authentic hotspot served in true Chengdu style: dipping assorted meats, vegetables, and other delicacies into bowls of two types of hot broth. Don’t worry about what to order and how — your guide will provide tips.

After your hotpot, retire to a boutique bar for a locally brewed fruit wine. Your tour then concludes here when your guide departs.

Started with a tasty buckwheat tea that was new to us. We were able to ask questions about, sample, and purchase a wide variety of unique local ingredients while strolling through a community market. The heavenly hotpot meal included almost a dozen different ingredients. It was our first hotpot experience and it exceeded all expectations. Qinou was so knowledgeable and passionate about food, he was the highlight of the tour.

I highly recommend this tour! Ling is a great source of information and entertainer. She took us (group of 4) on a journey through Sichuan's tea, spices, market and other (now not so mysterious) Chengdu Street food. The hotpot in the end was amazing, finally learning all important tricks about it.
