Use your Christchurch sightseeing pass at four popular attractions: Christchurch Gondola, punting on the Avon River, Christchurch Botanic Gardens electric shuttle tour, and the beautifully restored Christchurch Tram. Each ride includes informative commentary about Christchurch landmarks and history.

You can choose which days to tackle each attraction any time during your visit to the Garden City, so you have the flexibility of creating your own sightseeing schedule. Enjoy each activity back-to-back or spread them out at a slower pace. Either way, you’ll save on ticket prices and entrance fees compared to purchasing each attraction separately.

See the Itinerary below for a detailed description of each activity.

Christchurch Gondola:
Ride up to the top of Mt Cavendish inside a fully enclosed cabin on the Christchurch Gondola. The gondola climbs the mountain in approximately 10 minutes and starts from Heathcote Valley, about a 15-minute drive from central Christchurch. Disembark at Summit Station, situated 1,500 feet (500 meters) above sea level, and take in panoramic views from indoor and outdoor viewing decks; on a clear day, you can see the Southern Alps, Lyttelton Harbour (Whakaraupo), Christchurch and the ocean. Shop for souvenirs in the gift shop, grab a snack at the cafe during the day or dine at the restaurant in the evening. Your ticket includes the Time Tunnel exhibit, an automated amusement park–style ride through audiovisual displays that depict the region’s natural and human history. You can also access walking and biking trails from the summit if you’d like to further explore the mountain.

Punting on the Avon River:
Step into a punt (a small flat-bottomed boat) for a tranquil 30-minute ride down the Avon River. A punter navigates the traditional boat with a long pole, similar to the classic boats used on the canals of Venice. During your relaxing experience, admire the city’s leafy woodlands, trailing willows, the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and other sights along the river. While you float, your punter shares fun facts about the places you see and the city’s history. Umbrellas and blankets protect you from all weather conditions, and comfortable cushioned seats provide the perfect spot to cuddle next to your sweetie or share the scenic ride with friends.

Christchurch Botanic Gardens:
Near the city center on the banks of the Avon River, the vast Christchurch Botanic Gardens feature acres of landscaped gardens and a superb collection of native and exotic plant species. Your admission includes a ride on the eco-friendly caterpillar shuttle (an electric, solar-powered, open-air vehicle), which takes you through the extensive grounds. Your shuttle driver shares details about the gardens, long considered an oasis in the center of the city. Hop on and off the shuttle if you'd like to take a closer look at tropical plants in the conservatories, large rose gardens and other highlights. It’s also an ideal picnic spot and a nice quiet getaway not far from the downtown bustle. Check out the revamped Visitor Centre’s cafe, gift shop and interactive exhibits, and look for photos of British royals the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who attended the center’s reopening ceremony in 2014.

Christchurch Tram:
Ride the exquisitely restored Christchurch Tram, a heritage vehicle and hop-on hop-off tour that takes you to 17 destinations in central Christchurch, including Cathedral Square, Avon River, Hagley Park, Canterbury Museum, Re:START Mall and New Regent Street. Your driver provides informative commentary about landmarks, sights and history during the journey through one of the areas that was hit hard during the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. Witness the rebuilding and renewal of Christchurch, and hop off the tram at any of the stops to explore further; you can reboard whenever you like that day. The entire circuit without hopping off takes about 50 minutes.

It started with the shuttle tour of the botanic Gardens being canceled due to a family emergency. It continued when I was told to confirm my reservation for the wrong attraction which resulted in my having to take a later punt on the river Avon than expected. Then thanks to inclement weather (No fault of viator), The gondola ride was a bust with no visibility. The only redeeming feature was the tram tour around Christchurch which was very entertaining and informative and covered all of the important areas of the city. Under normal circumstances, this would’ve been a worthwhile experience.

Excellent pass to see a lot of what Christchurch has to offer. Would definitely recommend

Absolutely terrific, great to see Christchurch coming back to life.

Great way to get around Christchurch to see all the sights. The tram had no electrical current on the return so missed about 4 of the last stops and walked back to hotel, which was really not bad. Christchurch still in middle of re-construction from the earthquake of 7 years ago. Several downtown areas rebuilding - Cathedral still has not been touched. Could get off and on as needed - did the Gardens, Punting on the river and the Gondola lift over Christchurch.

Brilliant experience. Very sad to see this beautiful city trying to get back on track after the big earthquake.

The company screwed up our tour. We were not met, were very confused and finally had to pay a city bus to take us into Christ Church and pay for that also. The only time we had left was to see the Botannical Gardens which were lovely. All our other sites were eliminated due to time constraints to get back to our ship. We also had to pay our return. We were very disappointed after paying in full with this tour.

The trip was awesome. It's my first time riding a tramp and my friend and I really enjoy the sightseeing. The tramp driver and conductor were very friendly and they help us a lot. Love them very much.

For new visitors, here what you should do when you book the sightseeing pass...take tramp from any station we took from Rollestone Ave. - station No. 12 and go to the first station. There, you need to collect all the ticket and passes Tramp, Gondola shuttle bus ticket, Avon River Punting and Caterpillar ride -botanical Garden from the counter ask the conductor, if you can't find it. If you are already near to one of the place we were at Botanical garden, they don't hesitate to let you ride without the pass, the Caterpillar driver will only ask for printed version of the pass she is a lovely lady, thank you for the wonderful chat and info. We missed the River punting since it was raining heavily and we didn't have transport to go there after we came back to Christchurch from Dunedin. So plan it carefully if your are going to go to all the activities since you can discuss the time with front desk every activity end at 5pm including the tramp.

But all and all, I recommended this pass and we really enjoy the our stay at Christchurch.

absolutely no problem for any of these vendors to give us our vouchers for all four. It is highly recommended to do all these in this deal/package.
