This tour was not only pretty but gave insights into how the gardening in the patios developed over time and is tied to the culture of Cordoba. There were also some historical tidbits thrown in related to the defense of the old city gates and the Inquisition. It was very interesting.
Meritxell was an excellent guide. She was well knowledged in the history of the Patios in Córdoba and was able to explain with passion their function in family life. It was a pleasure to visit San Basilio with her. I strongly recommend this tour for those desiring to understand the real meaning of a Córdoba Patio
This was sold as an English language tour. It was in fact a Spanish language tour with limited English used. I was the only English speaker in a group of 8-10 Spanish speakers. The tour guide would speak to the Spanish speakers in front of the thing we were supposed to be learning about. His explanation to them was long 10-15 minutes. Then when it would be my turn to learn in English we would be walking away from whatever we were supposed to look at and he would briefly explain it to me as we were en route to the next stop. The explanation was much shorter and he was struggling to find the English words to describe whatever it was he was trying to tell me about. I appreciate that he was willing to speak in English with limited skills but this shouldn't be sold as an English language if the tour guide isn't capable or willing to give the same information in both languages. We only saw three patios, which you could probably search for an do on your own. Also, the directions for where to find the tour guide were very unclear. And there was not an easel with the tour company's information on it indicating the starting point. The tour guide had no identifying sign or umbrella or clipboard. You should see the patios, just don't do it with this tour company.
