    What To Expect

Your journey from Florence to the Cinque Terre starts by coach, where you can relax as your guide shares stories about the area. You'll hear tales about the Tuscan city of Lucca and its famous resident Puccini, before learning about the Cinque Terre and its five fishing villages—Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Monterosso and Riomaggiore—that form the national park.

After a short, two-hour drive, you'll begin your hike through the Cinque Terre on the hills above Manarola. With your guide to help lead you, you'll follow a scenic trail to Corniglia, which culminates in a steep climb of some 382 steps. Note: This charming region is natural and untouched, so there are no hand rails or safety rails, and paths often cut close to the cliff's edge. (if you choose the tour option without hiking, the train will be used instead to move between villages).

Once in Corniglia, you'll enjoy some free time where you can relax and refuel with these spectacular views, before continuing your journey with a hike to Vernazza, where you'll pass terraces of olive groves and colorful bars and cafes. Take a dip in the bay before heading to Monterosso by train, where you'll have free time to explore the beaches, wine shops and artisan goods famous to the village.

The final portion of your journey will include a boat ride (or train ride, depending on weather) to Riomaggiore, a village known for its candy-colored houses, as well as a final hike back to Manarola. Your day trip from Florence to the Cinque Terre ends with a coach ride back to the city.

    Borgo Storico di Manarola

Built in the valley of the torrente Groppo, until 1950 the stream which runs through the town was completely uncovered and 11 stone bridges allowed the people to cross from one side to the other. Over the next thirty years the stream was gradually covered over. The ancient village was destroyed by Saracen pirates (in 849) and the surviving people fled in land to live. When the seas were made safe again in the 11th century, people came back to settle here under the protection of the Republic of Genova. By the 1200's cultivation of vines was not only established but the wine they produced was sought after. The church of San Lorenzo was begun in 1338. The patron saint is celebrated on the 10th of August with a procession through the streets carrying a statue of him. The castle which protected the town from pirates is now a private home, you can see the garden from the panoramic walk, it is on the rock immediately above the port. Manarola is now famous for its Christmas nativity scene which is the biggest in the world. Figures outlined in thousands of lights cover the hillside. Also an Easter scene is made.

    Perfect day trip!
    Adele_P, Jan 2023
Amazing day trip from Florence! Extremely well organized, perfect itinerary to see Cinque Terre if limited on time. Our guide, Alassandro, was engaging, funny, and knowledgeable, making the tour truly exceptional. We were exhausted by the end of the day but the amazing memories made were worth it!
    Wonderful Tour
    Neil_A, Jan 2023
Exploring all five villages of Cinque Terre is already a magical experience, but doing so with guides Chris and Fado made this an unforgettable one. They were not only extremely knowledgeable with facts about the surrounding areas of Florence during our drive, but also very diligent in getting us to where we needed to be on time, and providing the group with free time with which to explore these villages. They were super friendly and interesting characters.
    Fantastic

Incredible tour! Highly recommended even though we went mid January (cold, off season). Ask to do the tour with Ado. He knows so much and has great energy!

The day trip to Cinque Terre was fabulous. Doing the trip in winter was brilliant as there were no crowds and the sightseeing and hike was amazing. Our guide Ado is just terrific, so informative and organised, he packed a lot in for us. Highly recommend this visit and the guide.

    Amazing
    Nicholas_C, Jan 2023
This was one of my favourite tours all trip. All the meeting points were central and the guides were on time, easy to identify and knowledgeable. We were able to see and learn about all 5 towns of Cinque Terre due to how organised the guides were. Even with the magic that is Cinque Terre by far the best thing about the day was one of the guides - Ado. His English, temperament and knowledge is a cut above every other tour we did on our month long holiday (we did about a dozen). He made sure each and every one of us had a fantastic time and got what we each specifically wanted out of the day. I hope Ado runs private tours as well as group tours because seriously he is a talent. Nic & Taela

    Only good things to say!
    Emily_S, Jan 2023
This was the best tour I've ever taken! Alessandro was a fantastic guide who was fun and engaging while also explaining lots of historical and scientific facts. The tour included breathtaking ocean views and beautiful villages. There was a small hike that was so fun. The bus drive (Enrique was the driver) wasn't too long and the ride was nice in a very conformable bus. I would recommend this tour to anyone!
    Perfect day in Cinque Terre
    Sebastian_K, Jan 2023
Our guides were Ado and Geneva and what an amazing trip to the Cinque Terre it was. Lots of information provided along the trip, from the stories of each unique place we passed by to the great recommendation on the best gelato and fried calamaris to try in specific villages at Cinque Terre.
    Breathtaking Day!
    Bill_A, Jan 2023

    Great tour to Cinque Terre
    Jamie_S, Jan 2023
This is one of my favorite tour. We had a great time. There are a lot of walking and hiking but you have an option to ride on a bus from place to place that will help with some people who cannot walk a lot. Our tour guide Chris and Stefano are great as well. I would recommend this tour.
    Absolutely recommend
    Penny_G, Jan 2023

Great guides, beautiful views and delicious food! I highly recommend spending the day on this trip if your in Florence.
    Beautiful views
    Kelly_B, Jan 2023
Emma and Gen were great, informative tour guides. It was a very long day but we had lots of adventures and fun. Lots of walking on rough terrain and stairs so we were worn out but the beautiful views were amazing!
    We were debating driving...
    Heather_L, Dec 2022
We were debating driving and spending a night in Cinque Terre but were so happy we booked this our instead. Not only was our tour guide Ado super knowledgeable, he kept the day in schedule and managed time so efficiently. The lunch option was absolutely delicious and the flavours cannot be matched. If you have any mobility issues - opt for the no stairs and no hike option.
    Loved this trip!!
    felix_i, Dec 2022
We had 3 fantastic tour guides. Very knowledgeable of the area and super personalities and they always came up when certain situations arose and took care of the issue.
