My husband and I did this tour and really loved it (except for one issue - see the end of the review). Expect 1.5 hour of kayaking each way to get to the hiking place. When you get there, you park your kayak and hike about an hour or more to get to this amazing waterfall. We loved swimming there and just having a snack by the waterfall. Then an hour hike back and then kayak back to the dock! pretty physical day but totally worth it. We loved our guide Makayla! She was sweet, helpful, resourceful and funny...an absolute delight. The only problem was that tour operator didn't have anyone helping the guests with the loading and unloading of the heavy and awkward shaped kayaks. They were VERY heavy and Makayla had to ask the guest to help. That is never good. They had made us sign a release of liability in the beginning of the tour but that would not stand if anyone hurt themselves while moving/transporting kayaks at the request of the tour guide. Other than that it was great.
This was a great morning spent kayaking on the sacred river with a hike to a beautiful waterfall. Our guide Bryan, was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the local area. The whole morning was spent with jokes and laughter which made this an enjoyable experience.
If you want see beautiful scenery and serenity on the river, then boom this activity. You will not regret it.
Thanks Bryan, we had a great time!
Was a little hesitant to book this tour at first due to the no refunds policy. But it ended up being an amazing way to start our trip. The tour starts off with a 30/40 minute kayak up up the river, then about a 50 minute to 1 hour hike to the waterfall. Swimming in the lagoon and going into the waterfall are a blast and our guide Brian was very knowledgeable about Hawaiian history and the local animals, flora, and fauna. The guy also very funny and has dad jokes for days so be prepared for that. I only wouldn't recomend this tour for the very elderly or very young. The jungle trail is fairly untamed and includes crossing a river with a slightly strong current. Be prepared to get very muddy as well.
We had a great time, our guide Brian was entertaining and had many stories some true but mostly very amusing. We would highly recommend this tour to all of our friends and family. The waterfall was an unbelievable experience.
Definitely one of the highlights of our vacation in Kauai. Our tour guide Brian made it so with his knowledge of local plants and animals, in addition to his witty humor and friendly demeanor. The physical activity was good for an out of shape guy in his late fifties, but at no time did I feel like the big one was going to hit at any minute - moderate exertion is a good descriptor. My lovely wife and two twenty something daughters thoroughly enjoyed it was well! Can’t say enough good things about Brian! Highly recommended!
Did this excursion with my 70 year old husband, son, daughter in law, and her fiancée. We all thought it was a major highlight of our trip to Kauai. Brian our guide was very entertaining and very informative. The kayaking and hiking were pretty strenuous but also a ton of fun. Very happy we decided to do this outing. Highly recommend!
Our guide Rob was knowledgeable about the environment and the area we hiked. We felt comfortable about kayaking for the first time, and on the hike. Rob has a true love for Kauai's environment. He shared his passion with us by sharing his knowledge during our adventure with him. We highly recommend this special outing for both families and individuals. The kayaking is leisurely and scenic. The trail to the waterfalls wanders throughs various ecosystems and the waterfall with its bathing pool is spectacular. This excursion will be some of the best hours you enjoy on Kauai.
