Overview

Hiking in Kotor’s mountains is best with a guide to ensure you experience the best views and don’t get lost. This half-day hike descends what's known as the The Ladder of Kotor: a trail that zig-zags down the mountainside to the Old Town, and commands panoramic bay views. Drive to the top and trek back down, stopping to experience a Venetian fortress, village, and the bird’s-eye views as you go.
  • Descend The Ladder route above Kotor on a guided half-day hike
  • Go with a guide for directions and the best views, and details on the sights
  • Enjoy the bay views and stop to see Venetian ruins and more en route
  • No need to make ascent: tour includes transport up to the start point

Vlad was an amazing tour. It ended up being super private, just my husband and I and our tour guide. The weather and views were amazing and we couldn't be happier. Thank you!

This was an excellent experience. Our guide met us at the city gates and we took a taxi to the top with him. He gave us time to grab a quick espresso before beginning our descent. He was very knowledgable and allowed us to take the time we needed. This hike down took about 3 1/2 hours on rocky but not too steep terrain. The views were unbelievable the entire hike. We loved it! Highly recommend this to anyone who likes to hike, even though it was a descent it was still a little challenging but a breathtaking experience as far as seeing Kotor and learning about this beautiful place from our guide. Definitely need good solid running shoes or hiking boots. Wear layers as it was cool at the top but got much warmer through the hike. Bring water and a snack.

This tour is not what I expected. The tour guide spoke very little English. It was MUCH MORE strenuous than described. Regular "sporty" clothes and shoes are not enough! You need hiking BOOTS. There were many parts of the trail that were dangerous and unsteady. Last half of hike was the nicest part!

Ivana was INCREDIBLE! We loved the hike and she was so fun to chat with! Her English was great and she was so friendly. I Highly recommend this tour, the views are AMAZING! Make sure to stop at the little house about halfway down to get fresh pomegranate juice! :

Very interesting tour and the guide was an entertaining sould. Our fellow hikers were fun too. If you are looking for something active to do rather than just look at old buildings, this is definately a good choice. Just was they would have given us a map of the city to find our way out instead of just leaving us at the back gate though.
