Why Travelers Choose This Tour

This Nuremberg group tour even covers public transport costs, so you can visit the rally grounds with ease.
This tour begins in front of Nuremberg Central Station. Meet the guide and the rest of the tour group and roam through the city’s Old Town, admiring the beautiful timber-framed houses and cobblestone streets. Marvel at the massive City Walls of Old Town Nuremberg, which still run for approximately four kilometers.

Behind the walls, walk past the Craftsmen's Courtyard, where glass cutters, leather workers, gold and silversmiths, stained-glass painters and other artisans offer their wares for sale. See the gothic St. Lawrence Church, which was rebuilt after World War II; Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt, Germany’s most famous Christmas market; plus Town Hall, German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer's house and the Imperial Castle courtyards, to name just some of the attractions.

Along the way, learn about the history of this beautiful and prosperous city — as the center of the Holy Roman Empire, to the days of the German Renaissance, the Temple City of the Third Reich, and the home to both the Nazi rallies and Nuremberg Trials.

See where German Emperors were crowned and where saints are buried. Find where the most famous and talented German artisans in history created their awe-inspiring works and where the colorful and lively markets have taken place for almost 700 years.

Then hop on the city’s public transportation (bus or train) to see the Nazi party rally grounds. Discover the Great Street, designed by architect Albert Speer to be the central axis of the rally grounds, and the half-finished Congress Hall of the Nazi Party, a building Hitler planned to use for party meetings. There’s also the largest Third Reich buildings, where Hitler inspected members of the SS, and the Documentation Center, a museum with exhibits on vital wartime and post-war events, like the Nuremberg Trials.

Feel free to stay at the Documentation Center for a longer visit, or return to central Nuremberg to conclude the tour.

If you are at all interested in medieval history, military history in general, or WW2, this tour is for you. While no four hour tour could ever be said to be ALL encompassing, I think this is the most information you could ever fit in a half day. The guide Natasha presented it in a clear, and at appropriate times, funny or somber manner. I feel her knowledge of that city’s history pays respect to the terrible—and wonderful— things that happened there. She truly made it come alive. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, but above all, you’ll be thankful, I think. Thankful that the arc of human history bends towards justice. Thankful that she was able to open up one of earths great cities to you. As a practical matter, she was also very accommodating and kept the tour going at a good pace. Seriously. Don’t skip this one.

Nuremberg Old Town is a fascinating historic location. The tour guide provided interesting information about the town, the buildings and their significance. The Nazi Party Rally Grounds was a site that I have wanted to visit for many years after seeing a number of documentaries on its purpose and the rallies that were conducted there, under Hiltler. There is very little left of the actual total structure and grounds, but you can still imagine what it was like in its day. You need to jump on the internet and look at some of the images that were captured during the rallies and the almost unimaginable crowds of citizens and soldiers that attended the rallies. The tour guide again provided some very interesting information regarded its design and structure. After being bombed and almost totally destroyed (including destruction that we were told was done by Germans), Germany has left it as it is. It still sent a shiver down my spine, when I imagined the horrrific events that followed those rallies.
Great history lesson!

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour of Nuremberg. Our guide, Chris was great. Extremely knowledgeable. It was an easy walk, even uphill as we stopped in the shade for more info. I highly recommend this tour - for all ages.

This walking tour took you through the entire history of Nuremberg, from its origins to its heyday in the 1500s and finally to the Third Reich era. Our guide Kevin was exceptional with his local knowledge and willingness to answer questions and promote a dialogue. As a history fan I learned so much and still had a great time eating a bratwurst for lunch and discussing all manner of topics. Great experience.
Great Sites...Lots of Info

This was an excellent tour around many different sites within Nuremberg. Since we were making a day-trip from Rothenburg, this was the perfect way to see many of the most important sites within Nuremberg in a timely and interesting fashion. The history explained spanned thousands of years from the Holy Roman Empire of Germany, to Albrecht Dürer, to the Nazis. My only complaint is that it was difficult to hear the guide at times, and I believe headphones would have been a nice addition so that you could always hear and follow along at your own pace. Overall, excellent tour.
Interesting but bad day
