Best Elephant Tour in Phuket
AmyRigsFitness
, Jan 2020
We picked this tour due to the ethical nature of the reserve - we were not disappointed! The staff were very knowledgable and explained everything there was to know about the ethical care of elephants and the history of how (unfortunately) elephants have been treated in Thailand. We fed the elephants, had photos and learnt lots about the elephants we met. The were no chains, riding, bathing or any activities that would put the elephants in anything but their natural environment. The food here was also incredible! The staff here are doing a fantastic job and need all the support they can get. BOOK THIS TOUR - YOU'LL LOVE IT! :)

When you go to Thailand, you pretty much have to go see the elephants. Phuket Elephant Park is the most ethical sanctuary we could find. Other places force the elephants to take people for rides or force them to bathe with people, but Phuket Elephant Park does not force the elephants to do anything they do not want to do. When we got there, we were told about the unfortunate situations the elephants had to deal with in previous years. We were then able to feed a couple of elephants which we loved. It was the coolest experience to get that close to such a majestic giants and have them grab food right out of your hand. All of the money from this tour is put directly towards the elephants; be it food, vet bills, medicine, transportation to the facility, food for the tourists, and expanding the grounds for the sanctuary. During our visit, we were able to see first hand the care that Phuket Elephant Park provides to their animals.

Thank you @shivleys for sharing your experience at the Park. Your review reaffirms the hard work we put in every day for our rescued elephants.

Humane Treatment of Elephants

My mother and I love animals. For her birthday, I brought her to visit the rescued elephants at the Phuket Elephant Park. It was a spiritual experience! The park itself is nestled in the virgin Phuket jungle that is surprisingly only 15 minutes driving distance from the airport. The rescued elephants were female ranging in age from 40s-80s. They were rescued from jobs that caused them physical injury from jobs that physically abused them...such as logging, transportation and circus shows. The rescued elephants were friendly and approachable. Under the supervision of the park staff, we could feed, pet and take pictures with the elephants. At this park, the rescued elephants could eat, rest and live without fear of being physically forced to transport logs, people or to perform in circuses. The organization provides a sanctuary for injured, unwanted or abused elephants. Visiting the park was enjoyable and we felt like we were contributing to a good cause with our patronage.
