Starting out in the morning or afternoon, this guided small-group nature walk winds along the shoreline of Lake Wakatipu, covering up to 3 miles (5 km).
After hotel pickup in Queenstown, travel by minivan a short distance outside of town to the starting point, where you’re provided with complimentary walking poles to use. Then follow your guide at a leisurely pace through native beech forest to the lakeshore where you’re treated to views of the Remarkables mountain range and Cecil Peak.
The wide walking track includes some uneven terrain, with the option to tackle a steeper climb to a lookout point for panoramic views. Learn about the native flora and fauna from your guide, who points out the diverse birdlife as well as edible and medicinal plants.
Enjoy plenty of photo stops, plus a snack break with tea or coffee on the lakeshore, before your guide returns you by vehicle to your Queenstown hotel.
