Day 1: Quito
Meet tour representative and other fellow travelers for a 2 pm orientation and briefing. Afterwards, meet your guide for a stroll through Quito’s historical center. Take local transport to Parque de la Alamada, where you’ll see La Compania de Jesus (entry at additional cost). Visit Quito’s oldest street, known as Calle La Ronda, and wander through back alleys and cobblestone streets that showcase some of the colonial influence this city is famous for.

Travelers interested in learning more about this dynamic city may want to arrive a day or two early to check out the numerous cathedrals, hike through Cotopaxi National Park, stop at the Equator Monument or Tour of Quito at night. Your tour guide can make recommendations for numerous guided options (at your own expense).

Day 2: Quito—Isla San Cristobal
Transfer to the Quito airport for a 3.5-hr flight to San Cristobal Island. Make a stop at Guayaquil before arriving at this easternmost island of the archipelago. Meet your guide midday and travel to your accommodations.

Spend the afternoon cruising across El Progresso in San Cristobal Island on a mountain bike. Your guide will take you to La Loberia beach to see colonies of sea lions lounging on rocky shores. Enjoy a swim in the crystal clear waters before cycling back to town for
a Galapagos-inspired welcome dinner prepared with fish, fruits and vegetables straight from the island.

Day 3: Isla San Cristobal
Enjoy a 45-minute boat ride to Leon Dormido and check out colorful seabirds taking flight. Stop off a Isla de Lobos and Cerro Brujo beach, where blue and red-footed boobies and nesting frigates call home.

Swim or snorkel with baby sea lions and possibly catch a glimpse of sea turtles, manta rays or harmless Galapagos sharks. Rent a wetsuit and boogie board, surf or dive (at an additional cost).

Day 4: Isla San Cristobal—Isla Isabela via Isla Floreana
Go aboard your yacht and set off for Isla Floreana Island. Located about 2.5 hours from San Cristobal, the seabird and frigate that populate this gem of the Galapagos make it a paradise for bird lovers. Hop into the water for incredible snorkeling (and diving option)
next to playful dolphins, then head back to the black sand beach where you’ll visit the home of one of the island’s first inhabitants.

Enjoy lunch and then head to the highlands of Floreana to check out pirate and whaler caves. These hidden spots have been used as shelter since the 1600s. Visit Puerto Velasca Ibarra for a taste of local life. This quiet village has a population of less than 150 before
arriving at that Galapagos’ largest island, Isla Isabela.

Day 5: Isla Isabela
Rise with the sun and set off on a leisurely walk through the nearby lagoon. Explore the shores of this island formed by giant active volcanic craters and get up close to brilliant pink flamingos. Your expert guide will take you through lush mangroves to the Giant
Tortoise Breeding Center. This conservation center is home to some 1,000 turtles.

From there, board a small panga (local fishing boat) for a tour of Shark Alley—known to locals as Tintoreras. Push ashore and explore the tiny inlet where hundreds of marine iguanas nest.

Interested travelers can snorkel in the peaceful waters of this quiet inlet where brightly colored tropical fish and underground lava tubes make for extraordinary underwater viewing. Watch for sea turtles, which are drawn to the lagoon’s sandy floor. Finally return with your group to town for a sunset toast on Isabela.
