Overview

Get acquainted with Rome's most important sites, including skip-the-line entry at the Vatican and the Colosseum, on this 7.5-hour whirlwind day tour. Optimized for travelers without time to spare, you'll learn about ancient Rome's history, culture, art and architecture. Round-trip transportation from downtown Rome included.
  • 7.5-hour tour of Ancient Rome's highlights
  • Great choice for travelers who want to see Rome in a day
  • Skip-the-line access to Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Vatican Museums included
  • See Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and sample handmade gelato
  • Small group of 15 people or fewer
For the morning portion of your tour, meet your guide and small group of fellow travelers outside of Oppio Caffè. Skip the long lines with your fast access tickets and proceed directly inside to begin exploring the ancient world's epic sports arena. Listen as your guide describes the harrowing contests that took place there.

Head over to the Roman Forum, where you'll climb up a nearby overlook to get a peek inside instead of slogging through the crowds awaiting entrance. From your vantage point, you can see the Temple of the Vestal Virgins and the Senate House, and your guide will help you imagine how the forum functioned as the center of Rome's society two millennia ago.

Step inside the Pantheon, the largest un-reinforced concrete dome in the world, and hear how it was built. Then head for the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona, streets made famous in the film Roman Holiday, with a gelato in hand.

Take a break for lunch on your own, then meet your guide in Piazza del Risorgimento Square. Enjoy skipping the lines again and head inside for a curated tour of the Vatican's highlights, during which you'll see the Laocoön Group, the sculpture galleries and the Raphael Rooms. End up in the Sistine Chapel, gazing upwards at Michelangelo's famous frescoes.

From there, choose between extending your stay in the chapel and the Vatican Museums, or skip the lines and enter St. Peter’s Basilica directly from the Sistine Chapel.

Well planned out itinerary and awesome guide, Siriana. She was so passionate about everything and was keen to share all the details. Pantheon and the Collosseum were the highlights, wish we could hear more about the Vatican and spend more time with her! Trevi was just overcrowded. Good radios.

And I thought I knew history. This tour was great and exciting, Our tour Guide GiGi was great humorous and very attentive to our needs on this walking tour. I would suggest you be prepared for the walk, however with GiGi being a mature Guide he could relate to what us mature tourist were going thru.

This was an amazing tour! Our guide was very versed in history. When she spoke she painted a picture in your mind as to how life was like 2,500 years ago. She brought a notebook with her so that she could show you how the Colosseum would have looked. She had an art degree and was very knowledgeable about the artwork in the Vatican. It was hot and I was grateful to walk right up front and not have to wait three hours in line to get into the Vatican. On the way from the Colosseum to the Vatican she pointed out other historical buildings and gave history on those as well. This was excellent money spent!!!! Highly recommend this tour!

Only 4 stars due the REALLY hot summer day we decided to take the tour on! Not to mention, everything was very crowded this time of year. Aside from that and yes, we were aware of this beforehand, but happened to be in the area taking advantage of such an informative tour! this was a great way to see all the main attractions with an informative guide in the time allotted. Nothing better than walking the streets of Rome and seeing such beautiful sites. A stop at a gelato shop also had the group extra happy Would definitely recommend, especially if you're short on time and really want to experience the highlights of Rome.

The walking tour was great. Got to see a lot of Rome on foot. Guide in the morning for the walking tour was personable and knowledgeable. Unfortunately our guide had to leave the group for the afternoon portion of the tour Vatican. This tour wasn't as good. I would say that the guide had a background in art and spent, in my view, too much time talking about the sculptures. It got to the point that I just wanted to leave the group and move forward. We opted for the St. Peter's Basilica pass at the end of the tour. It was disappointing that the guide did not spend any time talking about the significance of the large door or what was inside the Basilica. If the guide had just spent a little less time describing the sculptures and a little more time on telling the group what they could expect in the Basilica, it would have been much better.

We couldn't have asked for a better guide them Dario. The tour was great, and he was knowledgeable and passionate. Be prepared for a lot of walking, and given the amount of things to see in one day you may not get as in depth a look at some things (esp Coliseum /Forum) but a great overview of Rome!

We knew it would be fast paced and crowded but we were disappointed with our guide Luigi whose accent was very difficult to understand, his commentary boring and his sense of organization typically Italian. He was very nice and Rome was fascinating but he needs more training. Rome deserves 1 week!

Our tour guide Gigi was superb, great character and very cool guy! He is so knowledgeable and shared so many amazing stories and even etymology during the tour. I definitey had an amazing day in rome thanks to him and everything was so smooth. He gave us great insights into Roman life and history.
