Day 1: St Petersburg
After pickup from your port, begin with a St Petersburg walking tour. See the major sites and historical attractions with a mini-walking tour around the city center, and enjoy plenty of photo opportunities.
Then visit St Isaac’s Cathedral with its colossal dome and peruse the local food market. Afterward, soak up some free time with lunch in one of the nearby cafes.
Then see the Hermitage Museum, one of the world's most prestigious museums, with over three million works of art. After a tour of the spectacular state and private rooms, you will be given free time to choose which areas you would like to explore.
Afterward, hop aboard your canal cruise. St. Petersburg is also called 'the Venice of the North,' and the tour includes a cruise along the River Neva and through picturesque canals.
Finish the day with a visit to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. This church is covered in rich, colorful decoration both inside and out. Afterward, return to your ship.
Day 2: St Petersburg
After pickup from the port, start the day with a city tour to the south. See the major sites of the palace estates including statues, monuments, rivers and canals, beautiful bridges, cathedrals and palaces, memorial squares and parks. Then see Catherine Palace, admiring the stunning, 1000-foot facade. Your tour will visit all the major halls and private rooms, and a particular highlight is the Amber Room.
Enjoy free time in the delightful, small town of Pushkin. Dine (own expense), explore, take photos, shop or stroll its manicured parks. Then drive to Peterhof to visit Peterhof Fountain Park, built to rival Versailles in France. Peter the Great designed the 300-acre landscape, and you'll stroll through the lower park.
Return to St Petersburg and take the Metro – which is an attraction in itself – to find out why it is known as the magnificent 'palace of the people.' Afterward, return to your ship.
