Overview

Turin’s Egyptian Museum has a vast collection of mummies, ancient treasures, and pharaonic antiquities, but with more than 30,000 pieces, just finding the highlights could take a full day. Explore the Egyptian Museum with a guide on a 2-hour tour to learn the stories behind the most important finds, and walk through 3,000 years of Egyptian history.
  • 2-hour guided tour of the Egyptian Museum
  • All entrance fees included
  • Choice of morning or afternoon departure
  • Fully narrated tour
  • Wireless headsets for groups of more than five people
This tour begins at the Egyptian Museum of Turin, whose location in the heart of the city is convenient to taxi service and public transport. Follow your guide on a carefully-chosen route through the museum’s four stories, passing through galleries that focus on time periods and themes: see exhibits dedicated to the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, and New Kingdom, then explore the Ptolemaic period, and finally the Roman period. If you’re with a group of five or more people, you’ll get a wireless headset so you won’t miss a word of explanation.

Visit the Papyrus Room to see ancient writing and images, and learn the story of the Gebelein Canvas; along with six mummies, this was excavated from a shallow, sandy grave in the Egyptian Desert whose contents were well preserved by the arid sand. See pieces that bring the daily experiences of ancient Egyptians to life, then take in the colossal statues and amulets that illustrate their religious beliefs. This tour concludes at the museum, which you’re free to continue exploring on your own.

Well organized, guide was on time and very knowledgeable. For us, two hours was the perfect amount of time then we were free to explore on our own.
The museum is amazing. The fact that they limit the number of people who can enter every hour keeps the crowds down which makes the experience so much more enjoyable.

Our family really enjoyed the guided tour. Having an expert with excellent English skills was a great way to see the museum. She made sure we saw all of the important things, and was able to set a context for the items collected there. We had a great time.
