Make your way to a central location in Vienna for a 9am departure, then begin the roughly hour-long trip to Burgenland in a comfortable Mercedes van.
The first stop of the day is the village of Gols, where you’ll visit Szigeti Sparkling Winery. At the winery, the guide will give an introduction to Burgenland’s varietal wines, and the area’s fascinating Imperial history. See how bubbles get into the bottle, find out how the experts “saber” a sparkling wine, then sample some of the winery’s most distinctive pours.
From there, continue to a lakeside restaurant for a three-course meal that blends traditional Austrian techniques with a modern twist. In fine weather, you’ll have great views across the marine from the restaurant’s sunny terrace.
After your meal, head to the town of Neusiedl for a second winery stop, cellar tour, and tasting—Neusiedl’s wine growing area follows the eastern shore of a broad, shallow lake, and a wide variety of grapes thrive in the low-lying terrain. Following the second tasting of the day, begin the return trip to Vienna, where this tour concludes.
