We were booked into a highlights, food and drink small group tour. We met at 09:30 at the appointed place, and were expecting a group size of 12. However, they allocated 2 guides, and we ended up in a group of just the two of us, expertly shown round by Henriette, who , of course spoke perfect English (& french & german & spanish) and clearly loved the city where she lived and knew every aspect of it.
We went first for a breakfast, then after a short walk, some coffee & snack, then a bit later (after a U-bahn ride and a short walk, Lunch. All included. then down to another district to a fantastic street food stall where there was a lovely owner who clearly loved the food stall he'd inherited from his father some 3o yaers before, producing fantastic sausages, goulash, etc. Then another u-bahn ride to (I think) &th District to a really nice non-touristy Xmas Market, which felt much more genuine than the others we'd visited.
All the time, chatting to lovely Henriette about her city and lots of things.
All food and dring was included, and we were told to get a transport 48hr pass just in case we ran into inspectors. The transport system is clean, fast, efficient, fairly cheap and works really well.
This tour is highly recommended (but don't eat a big breakfast beforehand) and kept us occupied until 15:20. We now feel we've seen bits of this lovely city we wouldnt otherwise have, and it left us with a wish to return and see more.
We felt especially lucky to be guided round by Henriette, who was knowledgable, enthusiastic and generally lovely. It was a bonus that the organisers were able separarte us from the larger group so we got a "private" tour for just the two of us. All in all, a fantastic experience, to be recommended. And, If youre lucky enough to get Henriette as your guide, (when she isn't doing her real job) it'll be even better.
