Overview

Zhangjiajie’s otherworldly landscapes may well have inspired James Cameron’s Avatar. But with the key sites spread out over a significant area, it pays to spend several days there—and enjoy the local knowledge of a guide. Soak up the highlights of this geological wonderland on a 4-night adventure: Tianmen Mountain, Yellow Dragon Cave, Tianzi Mountain, Yuanjiajie, Yellowstone Forest, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and Golden Whip Stream.
  • See Tianmen Mountain, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, and Zhangjiajie park
  • Enjoy four nights’ accommodation, with breakfast, at Pullman Zhangjiajie
  • Spend four days exploring Zhangjiajie, with lunch and a guide
  • Take it easy with transport to and from the airport

Zhangjiajie Tour

This tour is very physically demanding for the average person! The views were amazing, but we averaged 6-8 miles per day walking and 20-40 flights of stairs per day. The temperature was over 90 degrees each day with 100% humidity. Most stairs were very small, uneven or loose, and had no handrails. Even with new hiking shoes and a professional walking stick, I struggled. No professional cameras or walking sticks are allowed at the Glass Bridge. I loved this tour a lot, but I think the description needs to emphasize how physical it is. The meals are hit and miss, as the tour guide picked his favorites without asking what we liked... It took 2 days to work out the food issues. The hotel was fine too.
