Had a wonderful day trip to Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond, and the whiskey distillery . Angela was a fantastic tour guide and driver. Would recommend this to anyone who loves Scottish history and countryside.
This is tour is a great way to explore the Highlands. It starts with a tour of Sterling Castle, which is near the William Wallace monument. You get about an hour to explore Loch Lomond (very beautiful), stop one of the castles used to film Winterfell from GOT, stop for a photo of highland cows, and much more! The whiskey distillery was awesome. Overall, a great day!
Our tour was led by a guide named Graham. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and very helpful to the tour guests. He provided an animated explanation of all of the sites and offered very interestung background about Scotland. We enjoyed his humorous commentary throughout the trip. The most disappointing part of this trip was that we had so little time at the castle. We were allotted 1 and a quarter hours. This site takes at least 2 hours to merely walk into each of the rooms and briefly view the displays. Unfortunately, we did not take Graham's advice to tour independently and linked up with the Castle tour guide. He spent far too much time explaining the politics of the era in which the castle was built and not nearly enough time talking about life in the castle and the various features of the castle. We spent a good deal more time at Loch Lomond than we felt was necessary. We enjoyed our lunch stop in Aberfoyle, though not all the restaurants offer good quality meals.
Neil did a great job as a tour guide and drive.
Safe driving, interesting history telling and well planned 1 day trip to Stirling castle, Loch Lomond and Glengoyne Distillery plus a couple of more short stops.
This was a really fun tour - strongly recommended! Our guide Andy was great - he told fabulous stories about Mary Queen of Scots, William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and various historical events. I already heard some of these facts before, but Andy made them so much more interesting. Even my teenagers were captivated! Stirling Castle was wonderful, the exhibits were entertaining and informative, there were things for children to do and we even got to hear a Scottish band play in the gardens. Then we were off to Loch Lomond, which was very pretty and had a nice little walk. Gorgeous views. Lunch was in Aberfoyle village - the local meat pies and birdies in the deli were great! Finally, the distillery tour was lovely - very interesting and the whiskeys were great! We all enjoyed this tour very much!
