Definitely worth doing, just to find out about the people and culture. Expected a little more about in the area they lived but still good.
Abosolutley stunning, the host took you round his lovely garden himself and was very knowledgeable. It is very peaceful in the garden, you can wander around and sit in the peace and quiet and the views were fantastic. It was great to sit and watch the humming birds come to drink the nectar from the bottles that were hung around the garden. Would recommend trip to anyone that wants that little piece of paradise for a short while.
Absolutely brilliant - Ras Natango and his wife have worked wonders in creating this beautiful garden and gallery out of a sheer cliff. The guided tour of the garden ensured we didn't miss anything while also telling us the story behind it. We then had plenty of time to look round and enjoy the peace of the garden at our own pace. A highlight of the holiday - and the taxi ride through town and up into the hills was a bonus.
The only downside - nothing to do with Ahhh - related to arrangements between Viator and the local tour agent. We made repeated efforts to contact the number given to confirm our pick-up time and eventually had to get the hotel's guest services to sort this out for us. Unnecessary hassle when on holiday.
But the actual trip was well worth it.
Very informative - loved everything about this tour! The tour guide was great! The village itself is awesome - so much to learn and have hands on with those who actually live there. Wonderful!!
The best part of our entire trip, do not miss this while in MoBay
Very informational and a great, different perspective of life for these people outside of the tourist-y resorts and restaurants. You get the real deal! Best excursion all trip!
This tour was very informative and educational. It was nice to learn about the Rastafarian lifestyle.
This was the scariest experience of my life. I see all the wonderful reviews and wonder what happened. I had a car pick us up and take us to a house......a house that had a persons parents buried right beside it. I assume it was a scam but the whole time it was just me and my daughter and I was scared of what was going to happen. They took us into a local stream we found out later from the locals at our hotel. I would not recommend this tour or company. We never saw Mayfield Falls. I continued to ask questions like....shouldn't we be going towards the mountains?, Where is the sign?, How are we the only people at Mayfield Falls? When the guides brought us back up from the stream our driver was not there which only heightened my anxiety. When he arrived he made sure we tipped them before he would take us home. I am glad we made it back to the hotel. I give this negative stars!!!!!!!!
We had a wonderful time at the Rastafari Indigenous Village Tour. Our driver, Neil, was on time to pick us up at the hotel and to drive us back after. He was courteous and informative. We shared the tour with a class of grade 5 students from Montego Bay and they were very involved in answering questions about the history of Jamaica. The grounds are lovely. We learned the history of Jamaica, of the Rastafari movement and its history. The presenters were excellent and very friendly and informative. They taught us all about the trees and the vegetation. We met the elder of the village listened to their musical presentation danced had a fruit snack served in a calabash shell bought some handmade things from their gift store walked through the shallow Barnett River. Bring water shoes. A very worthwhile experience. Lovely people.
Was a great experience. We were able to climb through the falls and walk amongst the natural vegetation of the land. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had. It was just my husband and I so the trip went quicker. We had lunch as well there, which was a great homemade jerk chicken dinner. The food was amazing. My only complaint, if you will call it that, was for the price of the trip...around 150 for my husband and I, you have to pay to rent water shoes 7 per person, the lunch was additional 30, and everyone expects a tip. One only has so much money to give out. It just really makes me question how much of the money truly goes to those doing the work.
We had a wonderful experience. Our drive there was scenic as we passed through the mountains and small towns. Our driver Denzel was wonderful to talk with and gave us a personal tour through his hometown where we got to meet his family. Lester was our guide at the falls and he was wonderful. He guided us up the falls not a very challenging hike making sure we felt comfortable with every step. I loved his knowledge of the area and the local plants too. Great experience! I would recommend this for anyone who wants to get out of the touristy areas of Jamaica. The ride from Montego Bay area lasted about 1 1/2 hours through small winding roads. There was no real strenuous hiking, more of a walk through the river up and then a pleasant 10-15 minute? walk back through the countryside.
Very informative and interesting. They allowed plenty of free time to walk around and explore the village as well.
Never happened because of boat malfunction.
Did notice that price seemed steeper that what was offered at resort.
