Luxor Full Day Tour: Valley of Kings & Queens - Hatchepsut Temples And More | feb 2020
Tour was amazing! Ashraf was a delight to have with us for the day. He was very knowledgable, funny, and open, making us feel very comfortable and welcome in Luxor. He arranged everything around what we wanted to see, knew what tombs are the best to go into, etc. He had great travel tips when we were on our own, and tips for shopping and getting around. I was looking for lamps to take home and he knew just the place for us to go. Not in the bazaar which was so much better, we weren't harassed as much as those other shops which made my shopping much more at ease. Highly recommend this tour!

Definitely have been more communicative and would have enjoyed it more had I been better prepared.

Private Tour: 8 Days 7 Nights Pyramids & Nile Cruise with Flights from Cairo | ene 2020
My main issue was the lack of communication. Before arriving, I checked in just to ensure everything was received because I did not receive a single email from "Reflections" indicating confirmation of my itinerary nor what to expect upon arrival. After asking, I was told someone would meet me at the airport. Indeed, someone did, but my entire time over there was very stressful as it consisted of me constantly asking, practically begging, to know what was next and when. It's pretty bad business to not provide an itinerary in advance not to mention even after you are already there! When I arrived, someone indeed found me and got me to a hotel in Cairo. I was told to be in the lobby at 7am the next morning. Turns out, I was going to be taken to the Pyramids the next day. The guide for the day was great and, after that excursion was over, I was told to be in the lobby the following morning at 4:30am! Apparently, I had a flight at 5:55pm to Luxor. Again, none of this was communicated in advance and I had to consistently ask when/what to expect the following day. The next morning, someone took me to the airport but upon arriving in Luxor, there was no one there to greet me. All these other tour companies had signs and people to receive them but there were ZERO signs for "Reflections Travel". My phone did not work in Egypt and neither did my email for some reason so, thankfully, I was able to get someone else to reach them to be told someone was outside to retrieve. Still remains unclear as to why every other tour operator had a person with a sign inside yet theirs was the only one not to, nor did anyone tell me in advance to expect otherwise. Fresh the early morning flight, luggage in hand, I was told we were going directly on a tour. Again, no communication in advance, I hadn't eaten all day obviously, wasn't prepared for a tour and assumed we might go to another hotel first to drop off luggage, etc. but this was not to be the case. The guide and driver that day were very kind and stopped somewhere for me to eat/drink something before our tour but it seemed like very poor programming from the tour operator's standpoint. The tour that day was great as was my guide but then they dropped me off at this boat which was anything but a 5-star liner as advertised. The major complaint, first-world as it may sound, was no wi-fi at all. The hotel had it and, had I known this in advance, I could have invested in a substantial data plan to combat this issue but it was practically noon and I was dropped off on this boat in literally the middle of nowhere (imagine only rural farmland around) with the rest of the daylight wasted, nowhere to explore nearby, no wifi to pass the time. I walked all around where this ship was remotely docked and before having dinner on the ship. I asked my guide what was the expectation for the following day and he said he'd have to get back to me but to ask the front desk before bed that evening. Needless to say, this boat also got very cold at night, the cabin was cold in general, and the cabins did not have any heat which was necessary for chilly nights in December. Again, had I known all this advance, I might have had a more comfortable trip which is why I caution any who night book such a tour to a: invest in a data plan for when you're held captive on this boat for all those nights. b.) bring warm clothes in general for the boat/sleeping cabins. I was able to get an extra blanket for the bed which helped a lot c) expect to not know when/where your next excursion will be. The hotels all had wifi and things to do, nearby places to explore. The boat did not, was extremely limiting, expensive. They did not provide any beverages on the ship so everything was at an additional charge. Even water was charged at $4EGP/bottle whereas on the land, I got it for $.50EGP. I had great guides, if anything, I wish I had taken better advantage and more time at the sights and just wish the tour company had been A LOT more communicative. If you are better prepared than I, are not a solo traveler who felt bored and trapped as a result, invest in a data plan, you will probably enjoy the experience more.

Excellent Riverboat & sights

5 Days 4 Nights Nile Cruise from Luxor to Aswan | ene 2020
The guide & driver picked us up from the airport. Took us to the riverboat, the boat was nice food was very good. The room was on the ground floor, not bad. The upper floor was for larger tour groups. All sights entrance was included. The guide knew his history but was bit of a scammer he tried very hard to insist we must tip everyone, when no one was actually asking for a tip as they were already paid. He would actually secretly tell the driver, horse carriage driver, boat driver to ask us for a tip when they were already paid by him. Then he would get upset if we did not tip them. He would try to sell us over priced dvd's postcards. If he was't such a dufus and pushy we would have gladly tipped him too. Other than the guide it was all very good but it's all part of the experience to travel in Egypt.

Fun trip! Two thumbs up for Tombs of the Nobles and Youssef!

Private Tour: valley of the queens,Carter House,Temple of Seti, Ramesseum Temple | dic 2019
We stayed for 4 full days in Luxor and used this trip to supplement some of the other, more essential tours. The temples were interesting and certainly worth seeing, but we were pretty fascinated with the Carter House. Instead of seeing the Valley of the Queens, our tour guide recommended that we see the Tombs of the Nobles. We think this was a great decision, as we were able to visit two tombs that were fabulous. Both had excellent colors and were in great condition. It is a bit of a hike up to these tomb entrances, but well worth it! Our tour guide, Youssef, was wonderful and very flexible. He adapted well to our wishes to not repeat the entire history of ancient Egypt (since we had heard it 4-5 times by then) and to focus mainly on the things that we were seeing that day. He was flexibile and helped us make the most out of this tour. Thanks Youssef!

Good Trip

Private Tour: 8 Days 7 Nights Pyramids & Nile Cruise with Flights from Cairo | may 2019
To be clear, this was the 8 day 7 night tour with the 4 day Nile cruise. This is a good budget tour for people wanting to visit Egypt. Reflections tours are the coordinators of this tour. They meet you at the airport when you arrive and they get back to the airport for your departure for home. They also do not charge an additional fee for a solo traveller. One thing to be aware is that this tour covers day tours which end at about 1 to 3. Reflections offers additional tours, obviously at additional cost. And they offer more tours on the “open” day. I did 3 evening and a couple day tours.........which cost me about $500. But you need not do these. My two tour guides Mohamed (Cairo) and Youssef (Luxor and Aswan) were very good. They describe the sites well and took care of me during the tours. They are good people. They help you understand the culture and history; and inform you of the tourist traps. Youssef actually helped me when a vendor overcharged me. He went and got the overcharge back. Much thanks :) The 4 day Nile cruise is nice. It makes 3 stops. Food is decent and the staff are nice. Rooms are sufficient. The only complaint I have is that reflections changed my itinerary, hotel and Egypt flights and did not notify me. Even though things worked out fine, they should also ensure to communicate with the customers promptly of changes. Because of the changes I did not get my Felucca boat tour as part of the package. I had to pay extra on another tour. But I would definitely recommend this tour

This was an amazing tour full of life...

Shore Excursion: Day Tour from Safaga Port to Luxor | oct 2017

This was an amazing tour full of life time memories. The tour company, Reflections Travel, selected by VIATOR was an absolutely great choice! It is a three hour journey from Safaga to Luxor. The comfort and safety of you during this trip is of paramount importance. This tour company met it perfectly. We were greeted by a representative, holding a sign with our name, who pleasantly led us to our vehicle. The vehicle was comfortable and spotlessly clean. During our trip, the representative routinely asked us if we wished to have the air conditioner adjusted or if we needed a rest stop. Throughout the tour drive and time in Luxor, our comfort was of utmost concern by the company representatives.

Once we reached Luxor, our guide entered the vehicle. He was pleasant and very informative. Right away he provided us a quick history of Egypt from antiquity to present day. His presentaion was informative and his delivery was factual, no bias. As we asked questions, he was happy to provide answers and thus provided us as much additional information on a topic as we wished. He was simply outstanding. From Karnak, we traveled through the cosmopolitan city area of Luxor, to a boat that crossed the Nile, and to a very nice lunch. After lunch, we proceeded to the Valley of the Kings where our guide provided us with a wealth of information about each tomb and the times of the Pharoh who was buried there. This was very important because the authorities do not allow travel guides to go into the tombs with their customers. Ahmet, our guide, was presenting the information in an interesting and easy manner that allowed us to keep up with all of the information he imparted.

Next we went to a stone cutter factory where we learned the ancient way in which potters cut the stone and formed the urns and pottery in ancient times. It also provided us an opportunity to purchase items from a source which we knew to be authentic, Egyptian crafted items. Finally, we went to the Valley of the Workers instead of the Valley of the Queens. The tour provided us this option and we were pleased that the tour offered this flexibility. Concerned that we did not go to the Valley of the Queens, Ahmet, our Guide, provided us with a wealth of information so that we were familiar with what happened to the Queens when they went into the after life.

The Valley of the Workers was an unexpected trip of amazing insights. The rock remains of the houses used by the workers are still standing. This site provided Ahmet a chance to inform us of the daily life of the workers who built the Tombs in the Valley of the King and Valley of the Queens. We then proceeded into the tomb chambers and were overwhelmed by the preservation of the tombs' art work on the walls. It was in significantly better condition then what we saw in the Tombs of the Pharohs, albeit on a smaller scale. This stop gave us insights into the life of construction worker of antiquity in juxtaposition of the life of a Pharoh. At the end of the tour, we felt so fortunate to have experienced Luxor with Ahmet. He gave us not only wonderful insights into the life of Egypt many thousands of years ago, but also the life of Egyptians today. One of our fun stops was at an ATM machine in a typical Egyptian neighborhood. Wow, my wife and I still smile as we recall our interaction with the Egyptians who were in line with us. This stop further confirmed how nice it was to have our own tour which allowed us to make adjustments during the tour to meet our own individual needs.

Then it was time to return to the ship. Once again, we were pleased that our vehicle was very comfortable and that our drivers were professional, safe drivers. Driving at night through Egyptian roads is an exciting adventure. Our drivers were well up to the task.

This tour was chock full of unique experiences. Like all tours, we saw the highlights of Luxor. However, our guide was exceptional in his ability to relate to us Egypt of the past and Egypt of today. The lengthy rides between Safaga and Luxor put a premium on the need for a comfortable and clean vehicle. The difference in road conditions and driving techniques between Egypt and home demand experienced drivers with commitment to safe driving. All of these were provided during our tour with Reflectiions Travel. We are so glad we booked this tour through VIATOR!

Shore Excursion: Day Tour from Safaga Port to Luxor | nov 2016

Driver and not so English speaking guide took us in an old beat up van on a wonderful adventure! The three hour drive to Luxor was full of amazing sights, like stepping back in time. The Nile Delta was full of photo ops with farmers and their wagons and donkeys, lovely mosques, and wild rides around narrow streets. When we got to Luxor we were assigned to a local guide that was very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. Our boat ride on the Nile took us to the West Bank for a lovely buffet lunch with lots of local food. It's a long journey, but well worth it!
