I purchased an English speaking tour...

, sep 2016
I purchased an English speaking tour, however all I got was a Spanish tour and an offer to pay extra if I wanted the tour in English. These caves are not safe for tourists. There are no clear paths to walk on and there are no handrails. The floors are very slippery and dangerous jagged rocks to climb over.

Fun way to see the city

Merida City Sightseeing Tour | feb 2020
Great way to see the city and get your bearings. Slatted wood seats are a little uncomfortable but add charm to open air bus. Wish the tour guide had provided more information.

The swims in the cenotes were so refreshing and lovely!

Cuzama Adventure Tour with Underground Cenotes from Merida | feb 2020
The Santa Barbara cenotes were so lovely and refreshing! The horse cart ride to get there was neat too! The staff was very friendly. The meal tasted fine but was mediocre and hardly warm. I enjoy hot fresh food and it was just lukewarm. Our driver although not unsafe would drive really fast up to the speed bumps or other vehicles and then slam on the brakes! Very annoying. Also the AC did not work in the van. I asked numerous times about it, then finally in the last 5 minutes before home our guide opened the windows because I told him we were running out of air. Communication was a bit lacking as well without clear directions given for return times etc.

Poor choice of activities

Celestun National Park And Flamingos Tour From Merida | ene 2020
Sadly this trip was not what we expected. We travelled for about an hour to get to the national park, spent a total of 40 min on the boat, after which we were dropped off at a beach for a total of 3 hours. Following that we were returned to Merida. Price wise, the activities provided were not worth what we paid.

Impressive Site

Uxmal and Kabah Cultural and Archaeological Day Trip | dic 2019
I visited these sites the day before I went on the Chichen Itza Tour. Uxmal had some nice structures; Kabah was much smaller. Tour guide was informative; driver as great.

Our Tour Guide Gabriela is awesome and we can understand her very well. And our driver stops in some areas that we can take a good look and able to take photos. My husband and I are very glad we took this tour and very satisfied.

Mayan footprints

Uxmal and Kabah Cultural and Archaeological Day Trip | oct 2019
This particular tour is an amazing look at the Mayan civilization and the footprints they left behind. What they did in the Yucatán, Guatemala and other area is simply stunning. Our tour guide was a local who knew the culture, history and heritage. Uxmal is without question the best of the area, easily rivaling and some respects beating Chichén Itzá. Our guide answered every simple and deep questions we had. This is my second time at Uxmal, and I learned more about the people who built, even in stifling heat and humidity. Kabah has the best likeness of Chac, a very important god. The detail in the carvings is delicate and surprising. Enjoyed your. Does not disappoint. Just be prepared for heat and humidity. Take water, lose cotton clothing.

Ok but shorter than expected

Merida City Sightseeing Tour | ago 2019
The tour was good to get an overview of the city. Its difficult to take pictures as they just drive by or stop diractly in front of the building. I was not satisfied as the tour is advertised to last two haurs. In fact it was only 80 minutes. I mentioned that to the guide and he said that I was wrong. I checked back with the Viator website and - no. It clearly stated two hours.

Lovely cenotes, great for swimming

Cuzama Adventure Tour with Underground Cenotes from Merida | jul 2018
We went to 3 cenotes, each with a distinct formation, and each swimmable. The cenotes were beautiful and swimming there was a serene experience. After the cenotes, a good lunch. It was a very enjoyable day.

Cuzama Adventure Tour with Underground Cenotes from Merida | mar 2018

My family and I all had a very special experience on this tour. The cenotes are a wonder, and a delight for the senses. The horse-cart ride was so fun, too! My greatest memory of all is of seeing the small towns on the way, which are a world apart and truly enlightening.

Cuzama Adventure Tour with Underground Cenotes from Merida | feb 2018

Tour goes to the Cenotes of Santa Barbara, about an hour drive from Mérida. Van picked us up right on time at 9am at our AirBnB and already contained four other tourists, a driver and a very knowledgeable guide who spoke excellent English. A horse-drawn tram took us to the three cenotes where we swam for about 40 minutes in each. We went on a Monday so the cenotes always clean and beautifulwere not crowded. Afterwards we had a leasurely and tasty lunch at the restaurantincluded In our Viator tariff. The changing rooms and toilets were modern and clean. We were very happy with this excursion and glad we did not rent a car and try to find it on our own. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed this Viator excursion...

Dzibilchaltun Ruins Tour and Progreso Beach Break from Merida | ene 2018

We enjoyed this Viator excursion arranged through Mayaland Tours. The Dzibilchaltun site is very interesting with its raised roadway sacbe, Temple of the 7 Dolls, pyramids, ruins of houses etc. Good signage provided by the federal Institute of Anthropology and History. The cenote there is beautiful with its crystal clear water and water lilies. Some of our group went swimming there. We would like to have spent more time at this site. But we were driven to Progresso where we sat on the beach for several hours and were able to order food from a restaurant across the street. We would have been happy to spend less time at Progresso.

Cuzama Adventure Tour with Underground Cenotes from Merida | nov 2017

The keynotes were very nice, however, it isn't what is advertised or listed here. We only visited three cenotes and they weren't the ones listed here. We had to wait for longer than wanted in the hotel because they were running late. We also didn't see any Mayan village along the way.

They picked us up and took us to a place called Santa Barbara, Cenotes and Restaurant. There we took a carriage pulled by horses where the 1st cenote is, after that you are on your own the tour guide waited at the lobby/restaurant. To get to the other two cenotes, you walk an ok walking distance.

Again, the cenotes they had were beautiful it just wasn't what we expected or what is advertised in here.

If I could rate this a zero I would...

Izamal Full-Day City Tour from Merida | may 2017

If I could rate this a zero I would. First, they were a half an hour late picking us up. The guide was supposed to be able to speak English, not really. Maybe a few words. Could not understand full sentences of what he was saying. Took an hour detour to some store not on the agenda so people could buy shirts? Finally got to the destination and he did not guide us, we had to just explore on our own since we could not understand him. When we wanted to go to the museum, we had to go search for the guide so he could pay the 50 cent entrance fee. We should have just paid it ourselves and saved the search. Then he had us all gather in a group. He spoke Spanish the whole time and seemed to make jokes at our expense, then everyone laughed at us. No idea what he said. Then we followed the group to horse drawn carriages, the driver spoke absolutely no English. We were put in the back of the carriage with another person sitting in front of us with the driver so we pretty much could not see anything. Once that was done, we wandered around the town square for about an hour until we were called back to the bus. We ended up leaving Izamal and hour early. So, cut off an hour and a half start late, end early and then and hour detour. It was horrible and scary.

Uxmal and Kabah Cultural and Archaeological Day Trip | abr 2017

The tour started spending a lot of time driving to a Mirador, but only to get us into the shop there. This ment less time at Uxmal but also that we did not have time to go to the Choco Store Museum even though the Admission fee was included in the trip. The guide spoke much more spanish than english - it was a bi-lingual tour. The lunch however was great. I have asked for a refund at least for the admission fee at the Choco Museum but don't know if we will get it. Of course this is decided by the local tour operator and not Viator.
